See above about how influential he wasWas someone claiming Messi was firing off shots before the goal?
Imo he was bull and void until we changed then line up

Seeing this makes me slightly gald its over
Agree.
Thrashing Kane for not having the same influence as Messi is a bit misguided. If England were camped on the edge of the Argentinian box for 88% of the time, Kane would have had more influence, no doubt. Messi is hardly an uber presser, but doesn't have to be; he has the water carriers around him to give him the platform to do his magic. If England had given a similar platform to Kane he would pull the strings and score as he always does. Going to a 9 at the back all within the box was folly.
Is someone trying to compare Messi to Kane? I like Kane as much as the next bloke but Kane has never excelled in that singular moment when everything is on the line. Sometimes with genuine reasons like not being fit for the CL final but him and Messi are incomparable in terms of influence or impact, even at 39 years old. The gulf in class is still super evident.
Not sure what the opportunities are you referring to
I mean no shots on target says a lot
Not with 7% team posession after the goal. Messi couldn't and wouldnt have influence with those tacticsIn a vacuum it may seem unfair to single out Kane. I blame Tuchel primarily. But Kane has had a series of no shows in semis and finals for England. Also accept that Messi has his nightclub bouncers around him to do the dirty work. But Kane is good enough and influential enough to have more of an impact on these games than he has done.

Apparently there are something like 3 English PL players who will be under 30 and have played PL football and one of them is Dane Scarlett, not sure if thats true or not but I suspect the futures not too brightAnyone want to predict what the squad would look like in 4 years time? Other than Bellingham I cant think of anyone that is 100% guaranteed to be there.

It's easy to blame tuchel and he undoubtedly deserves criticism, but this has become a theme with England regardless of the manager.
There's no lack of talent in England, but that certain attitude or mind set that is needed to force your way over the line is missing.
Thats the pointIsn't that partly on the team as well for not keeping possession of the ball?
Well firstly its largely on his shoulders that we have made so many business ends of competitions, that needs to be acknowledged.I'll ask you the same question I asked Bedford: do you think Kane has done enough in England's semi-finals and finals throughout his career?
Football is a team game, so I don't expect him to do it all on his own. But when you're regarded as arguably the best striker in the world, I'd expect more output than he's produced in those biggest moments. For me, he hasn't consistently delivered in the crunch games for England.
I asked Google AI to predict England's 2030 World Cup squad.Apparently there are something like 3 English PL players who will be under 30 and have played PL football and one of them is Dane Scarlett, not sure if thats true or not but I suspect the futures not too bright
Why are Argentina trying to cross it for those short guys in the box again and again? No threat what so ever.
Wait, what??Apparently there are something like 3 English PL players who will be under 30 and have played PL football and one of them is Dane Scarlett, not sure if thats true or not but I suspect the futures not too bright
That kinda sounds like it must be wrong Marty. Shirley?Apparently there are something like 3 English PL players who will be under 30 and have played PL football and one of them is Dane Scarlett, not sure if thats true or not but I suspect the futures not too bright
Yeh TBH I only quickly saw something and its likely shoite, will see if I can find itThat kinda sounds like it must be wrong Marty. Shirley?
Besides which in 4 years it'll just be the greatest footballer in the history of football, Max Dowman, and 10 shirts.
England having a potential counter doesn't mean that Argentina weren't awake, that counter comes about exactly because Argentina started pushing high and trying to squeeze England into their box. Tbh this was happening even before the goal as that what the goal came from, it was a counter against the high line Argentina had decided to use in the 2nd half. That goal was scored in the manner you would expect England to do well in. Let's recall England 0 chances before the actual goal and virtually no moments in Argentina's box.
I don't have the stats but the 2nd half up to the goal was largely Argentina in possession, after the goal they just upped their focus. Getting squeezed by them is no disgrace and it wasn't a choice. The choice part is with the subs he made, rather than trying to asset some control in the middle he accepted they would have all of the ball. Quite possibly it's because Tuchel recognised that Argentina were already begining to dominate the midfield and having lost Rice he didn't believe England could compete in that area. That's where I think criticism of him is fair, he did not attempt to play on the counters he didn't make Argentina have to 2nd guess if they could push all the way up.
I would say Argentina would never have just 7% possession especially with Messi in the team. By nature Argentina are a possession side and Messi is the ultimate possession player. Not with 7% team posession after the goal. Messi couldn't and wouldnt have influence with those tactics
