U23s, Academy and Loanees

Aaron McGuire played his first 1st team
Game of his career to day for my local club Hampton & Richmond. He had a very shakey start. Probably cost the first goal and poor punching out for the 2nd calmed down in the 2nd half. But him and the team improved in the 2nd half and scored 2 stoppage time goals to get a point 2-2!
Didnt watch his 2nd game were he had a clean sheet, but by all accounts didnt have much to do. His 3rd game on Saturday was very shaky with a lot of his kicks going off the pitch. Last night was no where to be seen and a new keeper signed, looks to have dropped already.

I believe it's one of the hardest positions to play for a youngster, the best I've ever seen were Jennings and Shilton. It really is as much about experience as talent. Modern keepers are under so much more pressure than those 2 with the rule changes about back passes.

The balls are massively different too. Its why there's not been a genuine world class keeper since Buffon. Even the best look a bit iffy a lot of the time now

U21s about to kick off on SpursPlay
LWB at 10
Wilson debut? up top
Sowunmi debut? left wing
Cheers for the heads up.
Both Wilson and Sowumni featured in the last game, both had some bright moments but Wilson was somewhat isolated and Sowumni is maybe a little lightweight yet.
But I only caught the second half and you can't really take much from them on 45 minutes of their debuts.

They both showed promise at times though.

Well, that Norwich equaliser has been coming for a while.
We started brilliantly but then just coasted and coasted.
Lots of meh performances.

Waiting for LWB to do something classy.
Wilson scored a lovely first but missed a simple second.

King has almost never got the ball at left back and never gone forwards, which means our left sided attack hasn't got going at all really.

Yeah Luca is only really getting involved when he drops really deep to collect the ball.

4-1 flattered us. Norwich looked our equal for much of the game.

Nobody from Spurs looked suuuuper impressive and destined for the first team on Sunday. I should praise RRD though, he was pushed off the pitch and was hanging his upper body over the metal fence... 2 seconds later he charged back on the pitch, got the ball, passed it, sped into the box and finished it. So maybe I am being harsh!

I don't think you are being harsh mate, it was a scrappy game and I think the U21's are suffering a bit from losing some of the brighter talents to loans and the first team squad.
