Transfer thread

They have Paqueta and Bowen for creativity, they don't solely rely on him. What consistency has he shown? Bowen had more assists than him last season, created more big chances than him and his goalscoring is poor. So what exactly is he going to hit the ground running with? Yes he dribbles, he also constantly dribbles with his head down and not aware of his surroundings, obviously why his metrics are pretty poor (relatively). Lets hope that can be coached out of him....
His metrics per 90 are similar to Eze's.

I'm not convinced that Eze is a better player at all. I'm certainly not convinced that Eze was a better player than Kudus at the same age.

Personally I don't see that us signing a right sided attacker would be instead of us getting a central midfield player. I think with the outgoings we're likely to have this summer - Hojbjerg, Solomon, Gill as 3 definite sales and anywhere between one and three of Romero, Bissouma and Richarlison - we should easily have the money for a wide forward and a central midfield player. We can then decided whether another defender or attaching central midfield competition/cover for Maddison is the priority.

A great summer from here on in for me would be:
Kudus - £55m
Millot - £20m
Larsson - £50m

We'd get about half of that back from the fees for Hojbjerg, Solomon, Gill and Bissouma.
Lots of variables in that.

All I hope for is a decent no 6 to come in . Think it’s a really key position we need to address.

We will see. I like your optimism.

I think Kudus and what he brings will be of more importance to us as things stand.
However, i think Eze will have a longer career and will more likely play in a team challenging for the bigger honours.. i think you are underestimating him greatly tbh

I think Eze is a good player. He is already 27 though so probably only 3 years left at the top.

If we were a Chelsea or Emirates Marketing Project with unlimited funds to spend then I'd be delighted for us to sign Eze. However, we all know the way that we operate and if we sign Eze then we know we are leaving ourselves a little short in the RWF position. For that reason I'd rather we spend funds over on that side of the pitch instead of on a primarily left sided attacking midfield player - especially as we've already spent £30m or so on a left sided attacker in Tel.

He's 2 years older.

Eze is more polished. But Kudus could go further imo. Or not. Would all depend on how we setup, and how Frank gets him in the zone.

Yes. The Frankfurt central midfield player. I think he is an incredibly complete player who is perfect for PL football.

A slightly leftfield suggestion might be Paulinha. He didn't have a great season at Bayern last year and I wonder if they'd be prepared to sell him at a loss? He is shorter term than Larsson and not as good but is a specialist defensive midfield player and should be able to hit the ground running.

Eze is class
Kudus has some really class ability …. Annoyingly Cherki would have been a cheaper option an IMO with a higher pointential
If we want game changers they ar3 both brilliant options
We have a slot of straight line runners and Kudus is the polar opposite, horrible to play against I bet
Last season he kinda downed tools as the club were a mess and not progressing. He wouldn’t be an easy player to manage but I doubt he would publicly be an issue either. I think frank knows that emotional side as good any manager too
The issue is he is Wept Hams player and their fans rate him so highly even with a poor ish season

As i already said, i think Kudus is more crucial for us to buy as things stand.

Still disagree re number of years left at the top for Eze. He's in a position and has a style that i think allows him to have a longer career than others, but we will see..

From what I’ve seen and hear we aren’t after a 6
We haven’t actually been linked to any other than Cardoso

I just don't want to go down this path. He's 30 this month and he'll be a high earner would be my guess. Buying 30 year olds is not the way clubs build dynasties.

No idea how long a career a player will have but players who don’t rely on physical attributes last longer… eze and kudus are both ones in that bracket for me

Eze, Kudus, Semenyo, Mbuemo
All would give us that extra but of ball carrying we haven’t had for some time
Deki does it
Tel does
That’s about it and it’s massive in the modern game
Add in that two of those players make the time for themselves
These are the kind of footballers I’d pay to watch

Why have you left out Odebert??

I agree with your overall point though (however, i'd certainly remove Semenyo from our wanted list...!)

Sign all of them!

Because we haven’t seen him do anything yet
I like him
Myself and @Finney Is Back were the advocates for buying him before it became public.. weirdly a few days before
But he needs to deliver at this level to be judged. From what I’ve seen of him for us, so far, his decision making is poor. That will grow and change with coaching
Semenyo is the most disciplined of the lot and HG too. He is also the most flexible IMO but would be my 4th choice of the 4

Could it be that Odobert just needs another pre-season? He had a decent season before he joined us and then literally got injured as our season began. Then he was trying to rebuild the confidence in his body after a long time out. That impacts your decision making until you really get back into the swing of things.

I've barely seen him play to be fair.

I'd look at it differently.

Who do we think we will/should sell?

Bissouma? Richarlison? Bentancur? Romero? Davies?

Focus our efforts upgrading them.

Maybe a rw. Although odobert has shown in the u21s euros he's happy playing there.
