Transfer thread

I'm not sure I'd take the opinion of many football fans, most have little clue of what they are watching or the subtleties of the situation.

After Kudus' first season West Ham fans thought he was world class. The truth is somewhere in between - he is a player with lots of talent but some inconsistency, who performs best coming from the right side of the attack.
Absolutely, but I'd still take the opinions of fans of his actual club over those on here, especially when common themes occurring in what they are saying and concur with what I've seen myself.

Agree, he is inconsistent - if he can work on getting his head up when he has the ball that would be a good start...

He's a winger that dribbles as his main skill set.

How many wingers are there that have his ability with the ball that also have good passing ability and consistency? Such a player would genuinely be world class.

I don't think we even need world class, we need variation to our attacks, and someone must think they can drill the new system into him.

For all my issues with Johnson, not really sure why we'd go for Bowen in a hypothetical scenario when Johnson has proven that the one thing he can do is get goals, Solanke will score. Supplement that with some trickery and things look a bit more healthy.

Personally I'd love a proper dictator of tempo sort of playmaker, but I guess the idea is to get some sort of consistency out of Maddison.

I wouldn’t. If fans of other clubs came on here they would decide that Hojbjerg was a poor player for example. I’d always just use my own eyes to judge a player.

Fully agreed on needing variation. But I do also think concerns about consistency and being "head down" are fair given what we're likely to have to pay to sign him. Personally I don't know.

Fully agreed also on a dictator if tempo sort of playmaker. We can't just rely on Maddison for that. Hopefully Bergvall or Gray can make a real impact, but still. We need more passers/tempo setters as well as dribbling/one vs one ability.

The way Frank has improved players and made an unknown in Mbeumo a very dangerous player … I think Johnson has the potential to be lethal. Hes still young enough to work with. I’m expecting some serious returns on him this season.

Very much agreed.

And the most important thing on potential transfers will be who does Frank want and think he can get the best out of over time. If that's Kudus, cool. If not, also cool. If Frank thinks Johnson/Tel/Odobert/Moore etc, also great.

I’m don’t think it’s that great to be honest … however this hopefully is where Frank earns his corn. His track record with working with players is really good so fingers crossed. I’d love Moore to go on and rip it up next year

Never know what will happen with young players, but Moore seems to me so ready to make that step up. Perhaps would do better with a loan though. But I could see him just clicking into gear too.
