Transfer speculation

Pool dont appear to be prorating defenders, Chelsea has been focussing on what was the second best defence in the league, City have signed an unproven keeper and a great player in Silva but haven't so far address their tank defence and lack of centre midfielders of genuine quality IMO. United seem quite scatter gun and Everton have brought a huge amount of unproven talent

And we haven't addressed our issue of Dembele's knees not supposedly managing 2 full games a week, Sissoko needing to be upgraded, and the majority of our bench, if we're honest, not being good enough to take us to next level.

It's Dembele's hips (the same issue as Walker has), not knees; and the solution is Winks.

What's frustrating is that the solution could also be Sissoko (midfield is his best position, after all), if Poch gets him to get his head out of his ass. I'm still hopeful, but barely.

Let's bring back some glorious ITK info, eh? I just saw this posted on another forum:

It is to do with the plumbing in the new stadium. Rats or something.

Sissoko is never a CM - his basic ball skills are awful
Pity you didn't let Deschamps know before he picked him for the Euros last year.

I still can't understand people who will say anything about a player, just because they don't like him. And I can understand saying he's playing awful, but to say he has no skill after 52 caps for France?

Worse players have made a better career. Most spurs fans can only judge him by what they have seen of him. He has not played well in this country, end of.

He may be a player not suited to the premiership. Probably would smash it in Scotland.

There are many great international players that never played as well for their clubs.

Similarly a pity you didn't let Pochettino know what Sissoko's best position was?

He's good at what he's good at. He adds pace, strength, running, counter attacking threat. One of those player types that France have sometimes lacked I think. And his strengths are useful at an international level I think where organization is often worse and a counter attacking setup can often be used.

His weaknesses are obvious. And they make him a poor fit in our central midfield at the very least. And imo a poor fit for us overall.

It's not because I dont like him!!! His strengths are his physique, pace and power - this is why Deschamps used him in wide positions last year. His weaknesses are the basics of ball control, passing, tackling and shooting - he would make a hopeless CM. If you dont believe me, suggest speaking to any Saudi Sportswashing Machine fans who watched him play a few games there for them

You are making it personal - I don't know him so how can I not like him?

I think what he has shown is he is a terrible footballer for us and most of his time at Saudi Sportswashing Machine and his attitude is poor for a professional footballer.

Caps dont really mean a lot - Cantana got less than 50 and Ginola got about 15 for France

Would you say they were worse players?

It's not Sissokos fault he was brought for so much -

ITK or personal grumblings? Seems to be coming regularly from the goat. They have a running theme with some over there about everything being Levy's fault.

Also, how is a fee agreed for Barkley good news? Or was it the deal falling through that was the good news? At least then you can have another pop at Levy.

The Goat:

Here's the latest across the Goat's horns.........

Whilst Pochettino understands that we can't sign big stars, he's getting increasingly frustrated that targets agreed to are not being delivered, despite these players being entirely affordable, within our range and agreeing to come. In fact is a number of cases fees have actually been agreed.

He's not getting his choices with some regularity and things aren't at all well between him and the bald man who offers up signings that Poch just doesn't want. He'll continue to say the right things for now but unless things change soon, at some point we'll start to see stories appearing in the media. The Goat's source guesses we might get another season from him at best unless things dramatically improve. But that's just a guess.

The players don't see the new ground as the be all and end all, they want to see ambition to go along with it and as for the wages thing, this isn't player greed, its promises being made and then broken. A number of players are only still here because of Pochettino and if he goes this could all turn very quickly into a nightmare for the man at the top with the majority of our top names leaving.........unless he (once again) makes moves to fix things. He has a VERY accomplished PR or 'spin' department.

On the good news front, a fee for Barkley has been agreed for some while at 20m but soured by last minute changes to deal structure instigated by the man at the top, so it may or may not happen.......and this isn't the first time, there's a long list of deals that never came off due to these last minute attempts to squeeze a bit out of a deal......... Lemar, Batshuayi, Berahino and going further back even Willian etc etc......The Goat hears that the failure to sign these players is down to one man.

"He has a VERY accomplished PR or 'spin' department."

Who DL? Keeps his head down from what we've seen. Maybe he can leak the odd thing via a 3rd party to the press. But a "spin department"? As for Levy negotiating, well that is his job.
