Transfer speculation

Yep this is true. As ive said before living in Germany catch a lot of Bundesliga.

He was poor last season BUT Dortmund were a shambles defensively due to Tuchel's all guns blazing tactics. He was a brilliant youngster, plenty of promise. very similar to John Stones career wise. Not sure he would be a starter but would without doubt improve our squad!
Agree with that. Dortmunds defence has had literally no protection or help from midfield this year, often being left outnumbered.

Something I don't understand here is that it seems Liverpool are avoiding punishment for tapping up due to apologising and ending their interest in the player. Surely by apologising they are admitting the fact that they have tapped the player up and should actually be MORE likely to face punishment?

This should result in them having a proper transfer ban (not just youth level players) and also the suspended part of their sentence for youth transfers also becoming reality.

If the PL turn a blind eye to this one then it will only prove that the rules are not worth having in the first place.

I agree 100 percent

Either do something about Liverpool - even a large fine given to a charity or just get rid of the rule as it's pointless

Report from a Portuguese paper that we're in for Sporting midfielder Adrien Silva, FWIW.

"Tottenham Hotspur are looking to tie up a £26m deal for Portugal international Adrien Silva ahead of the start of the Confederations Cup, according to a report from his homeland.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who was part of Portugal's Euro 2016-winning side, netted six goals and laid on three assists in 36 appearances as one of the key player of Sporting's engine room.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola claim Spurs have been tracking Silva for some time and are expected to make a concrete offer in the coming days. The report states that Spurs are keen to close the deal as soon as possible, preferably before the Confederations Cup, which begins in Russia on June 17.

Haha, the same website that reported the Portuguese story about Adrien Silva is now saying the exact opposite. Perhaps they were reading this forum:

Tottenham Hotspur are not looking at expensive older targets such as Sporting Lisbon's' Adrien Silva or former Manchester United star Javier Hernandez, football.london understands.

Reports in Portugal have linked Spurs this week with a £26m move for 28-year-old Sporting midfielder Silva while speculation has surrounded a move for 29-year-old Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez to provide more firepower alongside Harry Kane.

Many pundits have called for the Lilywhites to make a big move in the market for an established international help guide their young team over the line to the title at the third time of asking.

However, football.london understands that Tottenham will not veer away this summer from the model that has served them well in recent years, bringing in young talented players and allowing manager Mauricio Pochettino to develop them, alongside the older heads already at the club.

That has worked to perfection with the likes of Dele Alli and Eric Dier. While there have been some question marks over the acquisitions of young players such as Vincent Janssen and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, the model is still seen as the way to go as even those young players can be developed or at least retain much of their sell-on value.

The one major blot on the club's recent transfer copybook was the £30m joint club record purchase of 27-year-old Moussa Sissoko from Saudi Sportswashing Machine.

The France international has struggled to find his feet at Spurs, been derided by the fans and has spoken this month about considering his options this summer with the club reportedly looking to move him on.

Tottenham learned an expensive lesson with that transfer - although chairman Daniel Levy may yet be able to get most if not all of their money back on the player.

That means Spurs will stick with their youthful player transfer model this summer with Monaco's Thomas Lemar one player that interests them.

Fulham left-back Ryan Sessegnon is another player interesting the club and Liverpool have already given up the chase for the 17-year-old as they believe he has his heart set on a move to Tottenham.

However they face competition for the 21-year-old's signature and difficulty in the fact that the Ligue 1 champions have already sold another midfielder Bernardo Silva for £42.5m to Emirates Marketing Project.

Pochettino also has a group of young academy graduates at the club that he wants to develop, having told football.london last month that Cameron Carter-Vickers, Josh Onomah and Kyle Walker-Peters would all get more game time under him next season.

So Tottenham may spend big money during this summer transfer window, but it will certainly not be on an older player.

Tottenham are interested in Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier as potential replacement for Kyle Walker.

That was pretty much all they had on the matter.

Today's brief at any sports desk in England:

"Right, lads, Kyle Walker hasn't been sold yet, but we know he's going. Round up all the top 4 teams of all the best leagues in Europe, figure out who their right back is and write a story about him linking him with a move to Spurs. Do one story for each player, and set them to auto publish with 24 hours in between."

Having actually worked at a sports desk, I know this isn't a completely unlikely scenario, unfortunately. :p
