Thomas Frank - Head Coach

I said it ages ago on the other area that footballs become less technical. It isn't just us.....its athletes with less on the ball quality now, its universal. That's why we are making special case's for Ronaldo at WCs at 40. Not just because of the PR but because him and Messi are throw backs that the world crave

I watch 90% less of football i watched years back because the majority is so so bad
Same here in all truth, i have spent most of my life watching and working in football and would watch many games from all teams. Sadly it has lost its appeal to me, i still love my club but the interest i once had for the game overall has diminished.

Yeh same, I don't watch the 6 games a weekend I used to etc. Its all merging into one in many respects, I think team identity and player individuality has been replaced with robot tactics and cut and paste players

Just seen skys analysis of the second goal that had 3 players offside and 2 clearly in vicarios eye line
But barely a complaint from our players because they were already without fight and desire
And complaining to the ref has helped change decisions how many times in the history of football??

I've said before that if not for Spurs I'd stop following football, other than the odd match. There's just no incentive anymore, and it's a poor sign that you feel "cheated" so often. After nearly every game (not only Spurs) there's this massive focus on wrong decisions, VAR or not. It also has to be one of the only sports where cheating is both institutionalized and encouraged. It tickles me the wrong way to see guys with tattoos up to their eyebrows and beyond rolling around like little girls (who probably don't roll around like little girls) after the slightest of contact. And when even mediocre players are "worth" £50-60 million, things won't end well.

We look at football through such wrong metrics that it will now never live up to those metrics. Isak goes on strike at a club, something that ok has happened before, but the new club decide he is worth 100m+, fans go mental for that and judge that he is worth that which in someway plays up to it, player moves and has frankly a shocking start and show thay despite being very good, he is never worth that money. Both clubs and the wider game is then short changed through something that shouldn't of ever really been a things

Our fans ofter don't want the right player either, its the most expensive one, see it never every summer. Not to sound all Moneyball, but a players value IMO rarely reflects their actual ability to an extent, too many in the PL over paid for in the 50/60m mark (we have been terrible for it).

Thomas Frank since he came to Tottenham:

- Used 5 different formations (4-2-2-2; 3-5-2; 3-4-2-1; 4-2-3-1; 4-3-3)
- Never played the same midfield twice in a row in the last 8 games
- Never played the same forwards twice in a row

That’s good and that’s bad

Bad because it means he doesn’t know what works (yet)
Good because it shows he is trying different things
Bad because it shows he probably doesn’t trust some players yet
Good because he is giving everyone a chance

I personally would welcome him saying this more publicly. He is happy to say what I consider the wrong things but if he explained things and his thinking more he would get more breathing space

Why is it suddenly bad that he is rotating players? Thought that is what fans wanted. We have 2 games a week till feb at least.

Didn’t say rotation is bad
Did say it’s good he is trying different things and is giving everyone a chance
What I was showing is the same thing can be taken negatively or positively

You said rotation is bad because it means he doesn't know what works and he doesn't trust some of the players? Yet he might just be rotating to try keep them fresh thoughout the season.

Never one mentioned rotation
Changing the team isn’t rotation
It may be a many reasons including injuries, suspensions etc…
It’s why I can’t say and didn’t say that

I will say on rotation - my hope is that it gives us an opportunity to be better in the second half of the season. There are some clubs in vogue right now like Palace and Bournemouth but maybe the rotation will mean we’ll be well placed to get after it in the second half because we’ve spread the minutes around.

And especially because Frank is less about patterns of play, he’s more easily able to rotate. It’s game by game plans and winning duels, which should be doable for players being switched in.

Yeah it's a fair point - I was thinking not long ago Frank has been rotating the squad a fair amount, but he has obviously wanted to have a look at everyone and we have picked up a load of injuries as usual so has had no option but to change personnel to some extent.

I do get the feeling that Frank will manage the squad well though. Richi hasn't had an injury yet this season, that's something :)....
