The *WHEN* we go down thread

I think Devine has an option for them to buy at the end of his loan. So could be away.

Vuskovic, Gray, Bergvall will all be gone. Too many offers in for them.

Kinsky might go as well. I'm sure he could go back to his former club.
No way are we selling Gray or Bergvall. Both under contract for a few more years.
Vuscovic is too, till 2030 isnt it??
But i can see us selling Vuscovic to Bayern for 80 mill as we wont turn that down.

How many away fans will we get in the Championship, away ends are quite sparse for some Championship games but will they come for the experience of The New Lane , if we fill the away end only 59,000 more seats to sell :)
It would be better if we gave at least 5000 tickets to the away team. Especially those that will sell the whole allocation, like Cardiff,Wolves, Portsmouth,Wrexham,Sheff Utd and Birmingham.

If the price is right fans will turn up even against less glamorous opposition, , 42,473 against Doncaster this season for an evening KO.
If we are playing QPR or say Charlton next season with Lankshear & Moore up front and Devine in midfield we would get fans in as long as the price is right.
Think last season against Emirates Marketing Project in League Cup it was £35 anywhere in the stadium, don't think they can ask for more than that in the Championship.

Sky show EFL games at 12:30 every weekend now, so if/when we go down expect to be playing a lot of games in that slot.

On another note this coming Saturday marks the 5 year anniversary of the announcement of the European super league. We’ll be the first team of the announced 12 to be relegated.

Which would be quite ironic, given that one of the big arguments against the Super League was its closed shop set up, with no relegation/promotion.

Don't be silly. No chance ENIC will ever price it that low. Upside is. At least it will be sold out for concerts and boxing

Knowing ENIC they’ll probably rent out our stadium to ASSnal whilst they’re expanding their gaff so at least those nepo-babies can reassure Crooked Joe that his £billion stadium is still playing host to CL football 💰

If we go down there will be a massive reset and clearout. I find that quite appealing.

There is no VAR in the Championship.

There is not as much punditry and intense scrutiny on every little thing we do.

It’ll be an experience. If or when we go down we can say «been there done that» and wear it as a badge of honor.

The PL is boring anyway. 😅

Woke up this morning and my first thought was ‘we’re fudged’. First time I’ve thought this to be honest. Don’t see us getting out of it. Not me being pessimistic or down on the team, just how I feel. Can’t believe it really. So here’s my list of attempted good things to come out of relegation (caveat: I’m not saying I want to go down, every fibre of my being wants us to stay up) (caveat 2: this post is some kind of personal therapy, read or don’t read, I don’t care)

1. No VAR
2. Most of the players will leave, those who stay will presumably have some kind of motivation to get back into the prem
3. We will be able to attract a better class of championship player simply due to who we are. Whether the owners will actually buy them is another thing
4. Those owners might fudge off
5. One day, and it may be next season or it may not be for 15-20 years, but one day we will get promoted back to the prem and that will be a good season and a celebration so I’m already looking forward to that
6. If things really go titties up and we drop into league 1, we get to play in the auto windscreens or whatever it’s called these days which will be a chance to win a trophy that United, city, goons etc have never won

There will be huge media scrutiny on us if we go down.
First thing we as supporters need to realise and accept is that going down will not take us out of the spotlight, it will shine a massive concentrated spotlight on us.
We will not be crawling away to rebuild in a backwater, we will be the biggest show in town with every move we analysed to death.

Beat me to it. There will be huge scrutiny and the pressure will double. What a story! “Can Tottenham rise from the ashes? Will they drop even further? Stick with us folks and join us on the Tottenham rollercoaster. Only £5 per month subscription.”

It’ll be utter carnage all season

I think it's only fair to look for a silver lining, but a lot of people don't seem to realise that unless the club is sold to someone with unlimited funds, relegation is going to cripple the club for a long, long time.

Sunderland also had a superb new stadium when they went down. Emirates Marketing Project's history was arguably on a par with ours. And they both went very, very low before they came back up. Saudi Sportswashing Machine went down twice and were a mid-table also ran until they lucked out on Howe and got Saudi money.

I can't think of a single club that went down, didn't change owners and revived their fortunes. Aston Villa, maybe?

This.

We’re one of the bigger fish in the PL pond but we’ll be by far the biggest fish in Championship and every other team in the division will be looking to scalp us, just as every visiting team has enjoyed taking 3 points from our £billion stadium in recent years.

Anyone who thinks that we’ll be basking in the glory of 3 points every week if we drop down might be in for a rude awakening, just like our Winks and Skipp have been at League One bound Leicester…

Will be generational. Akin to Leicester winning the title.

23 teams in the Champo checking the fixture list for Spurs away. Insane it's got to this. Many have been speaking out against the Board for years and the trajectory they had us on. Pity that whenever opportunities arose as a fan base to make our voices heard, too few turned up.

I've got no faith in these owners or their high level appointments doing what is required to get us out of the Championship
- the only thing that could work in their favour is being able to spend/attract a level of player that the rest of the league cannot but there seems to be doubt there over what we can/can't spend.

If the rumours about Robertson from Liverpool being agreed are true then I have real fears for us.
The guy is done, no way he survives a championship season.
Lange and VV need to go before the board imho.

Outspending other clubs hasn’t been a problem and even if we’re able to financially blitz the Championship I have little confidence in Lange (or whichever incompetent that ENIC replace him with) actually using our financial clout effectively…

I thought the rumour was that he was waiting to see whether we get relegated or not. Relegated and he doesn't join us. (Oh - have I just found a plus point to relegation?).

Unfortunately, I can't see Lewis selling us while we're in the Championship either so something will have to give. If we go down (or when...), I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up having a trajectory a la Leeds. I'm not a financial expert but I don't think our model would survive more than one season in the Championship and we've grown so used to catastrophic appointments and knee-jerk reaction that it's hard to imagine having a successful season, even at a lower level.

It will make a great fly on the wall doco. Much better than the last one with a lot of back stories.
