Switching between 4-4-2 when we dont have the ball to 4-3-3 when we do I reckon

You take Downing out of any line up and it looks better. Especially when replaced with someone with a fancy name that has an x in it.

That's good. He couldn't seriously expect to cause France any problems with Downing and Milner on the wings. It would have been embarassing.

Yep i get this time now. Might not rate it much but i 'get it'. Downing starting without Carroll would have been ludicrous imo (i mean he shouldn't be starting at all but i'd have understood roy's thinking if he started with Carroll as the lone striker).

I'm so tinkled off Azza isn't there. Even though I think he's only playng to half of what he's capable of, he's one of very few genuine exciting players around. The tiki taka brick is all nice and that but there's nothing like seeing Azza pick the ball up and destroying fullbacks, I actually think he could be transformed into a central player but no one else has thought to try it other than Jol about 6 years back.

I think the same. His vision and passing is very underrated. Only problem coming from the centre is lack of goals.

I think he could get them, just need someone to sit him down and tell him he's really good until he gets it. He's so low in confidence compared to Bale for example.
