Bless her..
Stats say otherwise. Villa should be around 14th based on their underlying metrics. They've been incredibly lucky.Emery is a solid manager.
That may be so but to claim Emery isn't a solid manager (he's actually a very good one) is crazy.Stats say otherwise. Villa should be around 14th based on their underlying metrics. They've been incredibly lucky.
Emery is a really good manager for sure. In terms of the underlying numbers the point of them is that it's more telling over the longer term - by the end of the season it's likely Villa would have slipped a way down the table unless that improves somewhat. Like how our underlying figures being in the bottom quarter of the league caught up with us and we've been slipping down the table since a decent start. It's not the be all and end all for sure, but can be a warning sign of an impending drop off....That may be so but to claim Emery isn't a solid manager (he's actually a very good one) is crazy.
He took Villa from a relegation fight to the Champions League. That wasn't a one off, they competed for CL last season too and this season they are competing for the title (albeit I expect them to fall away a bit). He's won 4 Europa Leagues and then a bunch of trophies with Paris (albeit there is context there).
I get the point on the underlying numbers but results speak louder and he's been getting results for over two years at this point. That's not luck.
A CL spot is there for the taking... stretching all the way down to 17th.Because a lot of sides in the prem are actually cack.
