Aha. So the "integrity" of the league (which required us to play Lasagna-gate) doesn't apply when they are at risk of losing all the money.

e.g. No home advantage. Having to train in sub-optimal facilities. Insufficient rest between matches.

Pointless (Also a load of dead rubbers amongst the games)

There are so many financial and legal issues at stake that they are going to have to find a way to play these games imo.

if they don’t play the games they suffer financially which hurts the teams who are poorly run
If they do the whole decision could easily be contested post results and teams demand money as compensation
The have also made the lower leagues finish and there were teams clear top their too who would have gained if th6 could have gone up
The call it a pyramid but it’s being right now like a car crash as they know whatever they do their fudged

Why is that miserable for the players? They would have had their fill of family life by then, and they will be well looked after. Presumably anyone vulnerable (do we have any asthmatics in our team?) we be exempt.
 
I was very bored today (day 1 of furloughed, great sign) and put together 3 groups of teams

Would want to void - West Ham/Brighton/Southampton/Bournemouth/Norwich/Villa/Spurs/Saudi Sportswashing Machine/Palace/Watford


Maybe, depending on what voiding looked liked - Arsenal/Everton/Sheff United/Burnley/Chelsea/Emirates Marketing Project

No to void - Liverpool/Leicester/United/Wolves

This is complete guess work, but would assume the numbers who would want to void are there if it went to a vote

There's no way to make it a fair competition without playing the games as scheduled, IMO.

It would obviously be unfair on Spurs to lose the home advantage against our top four rivals Manure and Arse, for example. That is potentially the difference between CL or no CL for us. That's also a massive financial issue at stake.

Was thinking about this with the Belgian league being declared as it stands. It just doesn't seem right when there is any mathematical possibility of another team winning it.

Every club think they're hard done by when it comes to the media, the local football association, the refs etc etc but you could see riots from Liverpool's perspective as it's 99.998 percent theirs if it's called off. But if it's given to them, surely it wouldn't give them that euphoria that they have been craving for such a long time.

From Club Bruges perspective, it's not really a title you're going to run and scream down the street naked about (even after lockdown / social distancing is done) as it's just not going to feel the same. I haven't looked in to the Belgian league standings because I don't really care that much, so maybe the comparison is a bit off but it's like winning an election by the only other candidate having a sudden heart attack on the night of voting....(yes we vote for the party not the person yada yada yada....)

Coronavirus: Premier League season suspended as player salaries may be cut 30%

The Premier League season has been suspended until it is safe to resume play, as it is announced players may have 30% of their salary cut.

In a statement on their website, it sets out a number of new steps being taken following a Premier League Shareholders meeting held today.


It begins: "First and foremost, it was reaffirmed that the overriding priority is to aid the health and wellbeing of the nation and our communities, including players, coaches, managers, club staff and supporters."

The statement goes on to list new measures regarding the season, players, steps to support the NHS, supporting clubs' community work and promoting public health messages.

It confirmed that the Premier League will not resume at the beginning of May, stating that "the 2019/20 season will only return when it is safe and appropriate to do so."

The date when matches will restart is "under constant review"

The organisers said enabling all remaining domestic league and cup matches to be played is a priority to "maintain the integrity of each competition" but any return to play will be done "only be with the full support of government and when medical guidance allows".
