Why couldn't the charges be brought when he was under contract, say 6 months or a year ago?
Why have charges only been brought now he's no longer under contract?

Because the case is still being worked like I said. They've been bought cause there is a fear he'll relocate somewhere where it'll be difficult to get him back from.

When bringing a case to the CPS for a charging decision, more time is better to make sure everything is watertight.

They’ve had plenty of time to be fair, this has been common knowledge for 3 years.

I don't see why there would be less time to make it "watertight" when he was contracted previously. It's not just one case, it's five...

I doubt they would have charged him if they didn't have a strong case? Very rarely are cases water tight.
You obviously seem to have some inside knowledge of this so I can't really argue with the reason you've given. But it does seem strange. Has he been charged and released on Police bail?

That's the nearest thing you've said to explain why he is only being charged now that he's no longer an Arsenal player...perhaps that same political pressure was applied by an 'unnamed club' to stop him being charged until now...
 
I am glad he will face charges but the timing does raise suspicions.

Sadly based on how long these cases seem to take to progress from charging to court hearing, it could still be quite some time before the is an outcome.
 
Seen a couple of comments on X questioning how much Vinai would have known. As he didn’t leave them until end of 2023/24 season he must have been fully aware, as CEO, of what was going on.
Not a good look.

Edit - I mean about the situation in general and the club decision to keep playing him whilst the investigation was ongoing. He must have been involved in that decision.

I don’t know the intricacies of the system so you may be correct on this.

One thing I will say though is that everyone knew when his contract was ending, so they knew the deadline to work towards. So why not cut your cloth accordingly. For instance 3 charges instead of 5 to ensure your well within the deadline of him leaving. You can always bring the other 2 charges later.

Anyway like I said I don’t know how the system works
