The Goon Thread

This one was my favourite:

"Thoughts on Dele Alli surpassing you in every aspect of the game within a season?"

"If you had 5 apples in one hand and 9 apples in the other hand, how long will be out injured for?"
Mate, I saw that last one earlier and for some reason it struck me as comedy GENIUS!!!!!:D

Maybe my hatred for them lot is greater but I couldn't give a fudge he's out for 9 months! He plays for that lot great news!
Outrageous Roy, we aren't allowed to admit we grinned, clenched our fists and thought GET IN!

He'll be fine, but may not be able to drive his Lamborghini for a couple of weeks

Another one:

Who deserved it the most; the cab driver you spat on, the pensioner you abused, or the 21-year-old girl you punched?

If you were a horse, which one of your injuries do you think would have got you put down?

Is it embarrassing when you get mistaken for a footballer?

How does it feel to know that the last time you played 90 minutes of football Dele Alli was preparing to sit his GCSE's?

"Unsurprisingly, the Twitter Q&A was duly cancelled..."

outstanding news, the only way he leaves the death star is when the men in white coats remove him and have him sanctioned after they finish 6th next year and he still thinks thats an automatic qualification spot for the CL.

You know the FA will fix it so it is, right?

I actually want Wenger to leave. I think he does a pretty good job at keeping them in the top four year in year out. However as we have seen at Man U, fergie ruled from top to bottom just as Whinger does at the arse, and a new manager would really struggle to move things forward. I genuinely believe a change at the top will completely fudge them up. Then gobby tossers like Piers Morgan are going to really have egg on their faces!

The best Wheelchair comment for me was "Do you blame your injuries on the lack of vitamin D in your system as a result of spending a whole season in Deli Alli's shadow?"

I agree.

The longer he stays the harder it's going to be to replace him, the current board appear happy with making money and never looking like winning the CL, failing to qualify may make them change their minds. If he steps upstairs he will have the same effect that SAF has at United, with new managers looking over their shoulder all the time and "his players" not performing for them.

The board are clearly risk averse, scared that any change in the management will result in Arsenal finishing outside top 4 and the resultant drop in revenue. I can see Wenger staying for a few more years yet.

Arsenal would be stupid to get shot off Wenger. If I was an Arsenal I would be very weary of what I wished for.
19 years in the CL!! Not too shabby IMHO.

If they want to look what can happen go and watch Man U

Thier big problem is poor player recruitment, for a club of their size.
They must also have one of the worse medical teams in football?

I don't get this view especially when it is premised on Utd. Does that mean any club would be stupid to change their manager ? It didn't hurt Chelsea, City or Liverpool. It depends on what are the objectives of the club. If it is to simply maintain the status quo then yes you are right, but if they want to challenge for serious trophies such as the champions league or the title then they should change him. Utd made a strange choice with Moyes then ducked him over transfer targets and they have been a little unlucky with van gaal although he has a history of being a marmite manager. But if they had appointed a klopp or an ancelotti they could have won a title again by now given the resources at their disposal. Arsenal also apparently have huge resources at their disposal. Resources that could be better used by another manager.

I think there's a general feeling that Wenger = top 4. I certainly feel this way at least.

If they lose him there's every chance there will be a 'transitional' season where they duck out of the top 4. I argue that it's financially best to have 3 more seasons of top 4 before that transitional season as you never know what the future holds after that.

i don't think that will be the case for much longer - the league is becoming more competitive with all the TV money floating around - Liverpool, United, City, Chelsea, ourselves and Leicester will all be realistically aiming for top 4 next season - even West Ham will think they have a good chance - thats more competition than they've ever had for the top 4 positions.

Wenger has been amazingly consistent, and there are really two views to consider

1. He stays, they will never win title under him again (this season proved it), but most likely will manage 4th each season
2. He goes, and they either spiral down and struggle ala Pool/Manure or they could get a top tier manager (think if they got Jose) and be back challenging.

I think Wenger scrapping top 4 for another couple of seasons followed by a difficult transition (as PL seems to your point to be heading for 6-8 competitive clubs) is most likely scenario

talk about papering over the cracks, hope giroud and wenger both sign 5 year deals on the back of that fantastic win over one of the worst PL teams in history, oh and give wheelchair a pay rise for playing one game a season.
