I took a photo of rusting paint, turned it into a pattern, created a "rust" badge layer, then used a wand and opacity filter to let the actual badge show on "paint" parts. Pretty easy to be honest. Even for a gimp like me

Exactly, 1600 passes with a lot of speculative, probing and forward attempts. Not to mention the amount of pressure he allows on to himself to find space for others. Being just shy of 90% is fantastic.
