THE DOGS OF GLORY GLORY

@Robbo what was Big Boy's actual name? I just read that story to my missus and we both cracked up! What a top cat!!!!
His name was Røys - he was initially found abandoned in a stone heap, "steinrøys" in Norwegian, hence the name. Glad to spread some laughter! 😸

Just to add a bit of context to the story; he was - we think - almost/partially run over by a car once, and came home covered in dirt/oil and nearly unable to make a sound. We washed him up and thankfully he was otherwise unharmed.

But he could only meaow in a whisper after the incident, until a couple of months later when he regained his powerful voice...only now he sounded more like a goat than a cat.

It was extremely odd at first, but became another addition to his character. 😅 And that was the sound that awoke our neighbours.

Feeling pretty p!ssed off this morning, so I am grateful for the laugh that gave me (the sounding like a goat part, not the getting run over part)!

...I mean, this is a story of legend! He had a destiny; YOU!
I just love those sorts of stories...our Bubbsy was similar albeit far less spectacular (honestly, your scenario is a movie). We had lost our previous kitty, Fluffy, he was 13. My wife was not up for another cat so soon, I'd jumped the gun and arranged to see one on a local adoption site. She said, "Fine, go look, but we'll know if we're meant to have a certain cat, it will become apparent." Turned out I had 'blind' responded to someone I knew via a workspace! My wife conceded this was a sign. Hail Bubbsy for 14 years until he left me...as for spreading some laughter, I am somewhat in awe. These creatures do not cross us by accident, they're major ingredients in our lives. Again, thanks for sharing those stories; I feel like I knew him :-)

Cats are lovely creatures - I mean, dogs are awesome too, and I don't mean to hijack the thread, but it's my belief cats can sometimes have quite complex personalities (some are very simple too). I believe we maxed out in that department with Røys, lol.

Good for you to get another cat even if it wasn't intended! Took us a year and an awful trial with two rabbits and a hamster (never again!) before we felt ready to get a cat again. We took the kids, big mistake, so now we have two - and they don't get along at all. 😂

Currently separating them, with a goal to assimilate them and make them at least tolerate each other. But they're cosy cats, and unlike Røys also has a much, much higher emphasis on personal hygiene. But that's a different story...
