The Cricket Thread

I quite enjoy it tbh. Some of it is on council telly, which puts it one up on pretty much every other form of cricket these days, and they've toned down a lot of the brick they had during the first season of it. It's pretty much just the games these days. Not sure about changing some of the team names to get the IPL money in but I guess that's the way of the world.

I liked him as a captain and player, he seemed a captain who put a lot of thought into his job. All his coaching has been T20 cricket and he'll definitely be the first coach from an American team to lead England.

Like you say he was a very good test player, and the style of player he was suggests to me he might be what we need, but of course will have to wait and see.

I saw this, but of course IPL very different to Test cricket:

Fleming, 53, is viewed as one of cricket’s great strategists, having played 111 Tests for his country, becoming their most successful captain with 28 wins.

Since quitting international cricket in 2008, he has enjoyed a successful coaching career, predominantly with Chennai Super Kings, claiming five Indian Premier League titles before quitting days after McCullum was removed from his position.

You get some real arseholes in weekend cricket, we had a captain of our second team who always antagonised our opponents and most of our players, he was an embarrassment but revelled in being an abrasive "Yorkshireman"
