I've seen posted in a few other places this morning that the 60M quoted for Damiao, may have actually be 60M Brazillian Reals, this equates to somewhere between £18-19M that is being quoted by Tim Vickery, The South American Football Journalist for BBC/Talksport, just a thought but that makes more sense than the £47M price tag that is currently circulating...

Maybe I missed something, but since when have the Olympics held any significance whatsoever in the footballing world?

Different countries treat the Olympics differently. We are the extreme end where it doesn't mean much. Argentina, Uruguay and some African countries treat the Olympics much more seriously. Brasil don't seem to but that might because they haven't won it rather than the cause.

The best young players from Brasil and Spain have been in action. Reputations can certainly be enhanced in the view of the football world, regardless of whether we take the event that seriously. I would imagine the managers, even old school British ones, have been watching closely.

The hair says it all.

and the Jeremy Beadle impression.

sturridge....carroll on loan......ade haggling over the fee......where are these backers that are suppose to pump millions into the club, that was reported about at the begining of july,eh???

Still shopping at tescos,feck sake.

goals do. are you saying that his 6 goals have not added anything to his value?

Well...yes? Fine, he's the top scorer but it's also against the likes of Egypt, Belarus and New Zealand. I just can't see why his price should skyrocket because he was good at the Olympics? Granted, some countries try harder than others but it's still just like a glorified friendly tournament for me! But then again, that's just me...:)

Damiao deal was never in place. Priorities lie with Andy Carroll

Also all this we've a press conference at 4 - We dont do press conferences... You should know by now. And as for 4 announcements at the weekend.... WHERE THE fudge DO PEOPLE GET THIS FROM OR SPROUT IT?

I still stick by my ramblings, and have done all the time, but JJ is right, things are checking and changing daily because, clubs/agents/third parties are getting greedy or changing goal posts. It's not the players, or even to a degree DL.

Modric is the key to all of it. I do expect him gone, but not with a masked man in a suit fixing the plumbing at the new academy

Not so much worried about a striker cos regardless of time we'll defo bring one in more concerned about the depth of squad we'll have sold a lot of fringe players and seems next season it's gonna be all youngsters sat on the bench for us

I think football Olympics is a glorified friendly tournament too but there are some decent teams on show too. And it wouldnt skyrocket like it would if he had scored in the World Cup, but it certainly hasnt devalued him by any means. All it can do is push the price up as people want goalscorers and hes proved he can score goals, albeit against weaker teams. His goal ratio will still look good at club and international level which is what its all about :)

must be just our club. if Laudrup was manager of Spurs, you bet your arse we wouldnt be after Mohammed Abdellaoue or de Guzman etc. you could say because we are "better" than that, but you cant say that brick. If Abdellaoue can score goals, who gives a fudge what level he's at.
