Sandro Tonali

Not sure where I stand on Tonali. He's a fantastic age and we'd be stupid to think he wouldn't add value at our club on the pitch. It would also weaken the Geordies as a realistic competitor of ours. The challenge is that he is contracted until 2029 and they have the upper hand in negotiation. If we are fortunate to play in that elite transfer fee bracket, would he be the right fit?

If you had £80m in your pocket, who do you aim it at? Would it be Tonali?

Personally, I don't think we'll see him at Spurs because of the transfer fee equation.
And that, hopefully, is where De Zerbi earns his money by making the big call and saying, 'Yes. That's the man who will help hugely with the system I will bring to Spurs'. Even if we don't all see it. And Lord knows football fans have trust issues with managers buying big-money players.

Nathan is a genuine data nerd who loves Spurs. He hasn't always been wrong. He's a brilliant analyst. I don't think I agree that Tonali can't pass. I agree that position isn't a priority.

He is extremly specific about what he likes and anything outside of that will be dismissed.

I agree. That is where RDZ needs to build his stock. He would surely know that if he spent mega bucks on a player in one position then there would be trade-offs in others. I genuinely hope he is the manager that brings quality, not quantity to Spurs.

I'm in the camp of if we have 100 million and it's possible we should be testing the waters for Wharton.

But how many years have we moaned about not giving the manager what he wants?
Haha. Someone is watching your post :

Never heard of him?

Like I said, the player he's most similar to is Declan Rice. How people anaylse Rice's game is up to them.

When Bruno G plays with him. At Milan and when Bruno does not play he becomes the deeper player who’s controlling the tempo. Is a great passer especially with the long ball.
I think this difference of opinion is probably more about how highly you rate his controlling and passing ability as opposed to him not having it all.
