You know we aren't actually limited to 4 association players. Yes it you want to fill the full squad complement you need to have 4 but if you have say 5, one of them just takes up a space that would be used for a non association ed player instead. So in your example we can have Tosin and Davies in the squad if we do wished (hopefully not of course).

Exactly:
The squad would consist of:
4 or more association trained players.
4 or more club trained players.
Up to 17 overseas players (fewer if you have more than 8 players from the 2 categories above).
+ as many under 21s as you like as long as they have been at the club for a minimum of 2 full seasons.

Yeah, I absolutely get that. The A-list becomes the catch all for the following:

- Overseas players who aren't asssociation or club trained.
- If you have more than 4 association trained e.g. Madds, Davies, Solanke, Tosin, Gallagher, Robbo (not sure???)
- If you have more than 4 club trained. We will have Austin, Gray and Bergval next season. Perhaps Donley, but less likely.
- If we buy new U21s like we did with Gray and Bergval, they can't go on the B-list until they've been registered for 2 years with THFC. They have to be A-list

It's not neccessarily a bad thing if the A list is strong with this mix. My point was still that you can't just go and build a bigger squad. You don't have the slots unless you create them by shifting existing players.
