Tbh I don't think our fans generally care as much about play style or intent as is often claimed. Yes we do want attractive football, but if Spurs were winning game after game in dominant but boring fashion I think you'd see a lot of justification for that approach because the results would be worth it to most.

We will always have the hipster purists who want a certain type of football like you or I, but really I don't think that's really true of the majority.

Attractive football works as a substitute for winning football, but winning football will pretty much trump all approaches as long as it does win. Look at our EL win, we weren't playing Ange ball, but no one really cared because at the end of the day it garnered something tangible.

Win and all things can and will be forgiven or accepted. Lose and that's where the subtleties of the approach are considered.

The 'worse' the football the higher the yardstick for what constitutes winning I'd say - looking back both Conte & Mourinho were doing fairly well/ok for us when the fans turned, i think that the style of football both played contributed majorly to that. Not going to claim that is unique to our fanbase but other clubs supporters would have a different/lower threshold in that regard

But we are playing ineffective football
The manager has to be braver in his choices and take some risks to get something as important as a goal
If he plays his 4-3-3 again and we win I dont think there will be any complaints
But if it’s the same set up and lots of passing with no end product that is gonna sit with him

I don't think the lack of goals come as a result of the style of play or how RdZ wants us to play - it's just a personnel issue, and this will not be rectified by a change of tactic or approach or any other quick fix. We need to stick to the plan and hope that it sees us through to a point that we can strengthen.

I think you make a really fair point, one that is certainly hard for me to accept in fairness, and that is because I (in turn) am of a depleting breed.
 
Just watched the highlights of Brentford vs Chelsea and Leeds vs Saudi Sportswashing Machine, catching up.

What is clear is that these teams with settled sides and coaching are so much more decisive and confident in the final third. The pace at which they play their passes in this phase, the certainty with which they know what they’re trying to do, it’s very clear and obvious that we just don’t have it yet.

That’s what we need to get to and here’s hoping we see it tomorrow!

I think it’s a tactical issue
The team plays with no risk

I think we have added a lot of quality
And some real technical ability which was needed
But the current way we’re being set up is all about control
We never have players free to take the gamble on balls
We don’t occupy the CBs so the opposition always have free men at the back
We looks dominant because the midfield three pass the ball around each other

We are a RB and a Striker short, the striker situation given we have known for years that Richy and Solanke are not the ones is a shocker, especially as we have now compounded the situation by allowing whats happening happen. Before anyone jumps on this and says I have defended both Solanke and Richy its because the numbers we have means we have left ourselves with them, so can't afford to cut our noses off.

I have serious concerns about Savio, the lad is clearly a really tricky and pace driven player, but his lack of end product which I have seen and read about for years has shown itself so far.

Its not being negative BTW, I am genuinely concerned about the side
