He's not eligible. You have to be registered for the league to be available for the cups. It's to stop teams amassing massive squads and using some players purely for the cups.
 
Note that RDZ says he went to Richie at the start of pre-season to try to get him to stay.
But Richie wanted to leave. So it is Richie's decision.
 
Didn't Moyes complain that Everton were skint recently. I think some are reaching with some of these theories about angling for a free

Paying a few players decent money doesn't mean doubling down and doing it for more or adding to the wage bill, they will be governed by their own financial restrictions like anyone else.

Every season seems to have a villain of the piece, this season there have been half a dozen

Richy’s added his two cents to the debate about Liverpool selection via his Insta story.

Honestly at this point it is really immature from him. Like he genuinely cannot see the other side of the situation. Maybe some would argue that the club / RDZ is being immature by not registering him, but they have a reason. They want to only register people that are fully committed, not half in half out. What is Richy’s answer to that, after turning down three moves that we know about?

I think we have mismanaged it TBH.
The moves he turned down were all for the sorts of reasons players turn down moves?
I agree, it cannot all be one way, however surely the onus lies on the club for not managing the situation? It's hard to imagine Paratici ballsing up a situation like this.

I don’t think this would happen under Paratici, but one of the things I thought about his time at the club is that we never really had a culture. He was an amazing trader of players, but I don’t think his remit was culture. And I don’t think we’ve had a proper culture since Poch. Maybe under Ange but that may have been more belief than culture.

I think this is a culture decision. And I’d say it was a bad decision if it had no benefit on culture. Ultimately I think Richy didn’t calculate and still doesn’t understand that we are no longer a club where people just play out their contracts, but have no over riding identity of culture. For better or worse we are going to have one under RDZ, and I like the fact that the club didn’t force him to integrate someone who would be detrimental to it. If we are aiming for an ‘everyone is fully committed, no one is half in half out’ squad, then we can motivate them accordingly that way. They will feed off each other that way. Richy’s statements of being willing to see out his contract but being happy to leave if a good enough offer came in, just completely cut against that.

And I know players turn down moves for all sorts of reasons, but he had 3 very different opportunities. A romantic reunion, a childhood club, a money spinner, it didn’t work out. But that’s his market. His choice was move or don’t play. He’s chosen don’t play. Presumably he wanted money, to feel wanted, and to play, but his market didn’t deliver that, and unfortunately Tottenham wasn’t offering it.

I do wonder if we communicated to him before the deadline that if he didn’t move, he would he unregistered.

Interesting discussion re: culture. Poch forrrrrr sure!
I really felt we were on the cusp with Ange but (as a club) shat the bed for safety.
I think with RDZ we have a chance of a culture, and I agree, I am not sure who is going to carry the torches within the squad to help imprint that. RDZ is looking for that IMO...

I think the contract rundown re: Richy you suggested is an interesting angle. Certainly possible!

Didn't he accept Turkey and we didn't so it was more a case of there being more to it than him choosing not to play?

Whats happened to move to Brazil, I am lost with it all now TBH

If I ran the club and I looked down after an extremely important window where we spent 350m on new players and:

The young prospect had been sold
The top scorer from last season wasnt registered but wasnt sold
The only retained forward looks unfit and bereft of confidence (and ability imo)

And the spat on the middle one is now playing out publicly, I think I might be asking for the recruitment lead and manager to see me in my office on Monday morning.
 
Something has happened between that Brentford game and Richarlison not being registered.

My suspicion is that RDZ is quite impatient and volatile with his attacking players and Richi was told that he played like sh!t and things blew up from there.

Think what happened with Tel times a hundred because Richarlison himself is quite emotional/volatile.

This whole "Richjarlison said he wanted to leave in the summer" doesn't make sense when you remember he started vs Brentford....
