Anyone into these? I found an old Tamiya car in the l;oft and am rebuilding it for my kids to play with (yeah right). Can't wait to finish so I can "watch them play with it"

i think my dad had one of those when i was a kid - he used to race RC Cars (badly) at the old tracks in St Albs

It was a thing of beauty mate, I wish I hadn't sold it.

Yeah, a lot of Tamiya ones looked similar. Most of the kids on my street had a car, off memory there was: Thundershot, Bigwig, Grasshopper, Grasshopper II, Ninja and one of my mates some mental Japanese import. There might have been a couple others.

I saw a few of these at the gadget show this year.. They looked brilliant. A few flying ones to..

expensive things to have tho.

RC Porn... remembered what my mate had, it was a Kyosho Optima Mid... Or it was until he drove it into a pond

That was an expensive swim! They were chain driven I seem to remember.

Not sure, but it tinkled on the rest of our cars.

I think that was around ?ú400 back then and was a proper racer out of the box so it should tinkle on the Tamiya "bashers" we had.

Yeah, I think the most tekkers my car got was aluminium dampers, a black engine and a gold battery... whatever that really meant! He actually wept when he crashed it, someone had shouted his name and he turned around to talk without coming off the throttle, it was a pretty mad jump!

Ended up saving it but it took an age for the parts to come over from Japan.

My brother used to have a Kyosho Inferno MP, I think it was the MP7 (or it could have been the MP777, I can't be too sure)! The thing was absolutely rapid, very good both on gravel and on the tarmac:

Nitro stuff is insanely quick, my mate had his ankle broken by a nitro car, the taco.
