Friedel - 7 ------------- Some good saves
Naughton - 7 ---------- Kept plankman pretty quiet. Much better on the right.
Dawson - 4 ------------ Turns like a battleship
Verts - 4 --------------- Looks like he did not want to be in this game.
Rose - 6 --------------- Some decent runs. Some headcase moments. But out a shift in.
Capoue 4 ------------ I dont think he wants to be a defensive midfielder. He does none of the work one in that position does.
Paulinhio 6 ----------- Generally some nice touches and got about. Not the worst of the bunch.
Benteleb 5 ---------- Tidy in places and not much else
Townsend 4 --------- Nothing except errant shooting and not trakcing back
Chadl 3 --------------- Not even errant shots. oh one he ballooned over the bar.
Soldaod 4 ----------- He gets a four for some decent link up play. The rest was shocking.

Subs:

Eriksen - 5 --------- Almost a goal with his first touch. Some terrible set pieces though.
Kane - n/a ---------- Almost got in though.

Friedel 8 - made some good saves, kept us in it, good sweeping too actually

Naughton 6 - dealt with Konoplyanka well for the first 60 minutes or so but was roasted after
Dawson 5 - all over the place at times
Vertonghen 5 - ditto
Rose 5.5 - ditto but put in a couple of decent crosses

Capoue 5 - not a good game
Paulinho 6.5 - good ball to Soldado, did some other neat bits
Bentaleb 5 - not really involved, should play deeper

Townsend 5 - his worst game for us and I think he knew it
Chadli 5.5 - not much better
Soldado 5 - some nice approach play but missed another sitter
 
Friedel - 7 Some important stops, did well.
Naughton - 6.5 Up against a very tricky opponent and came out honours almost even.
Dawson - 6 Don't get the hate for him tonight, had a decent game and blocked at least 2 certain goals.
Vertonghen - 5 Not his best game, poor communication alongside Rose.
Rose - 5 Again decent going forward with poor decision making, poor positionally.
Capoue - 4.5 Some decent passing, some poor passing and not a very good 'shield' for the back 4.
Paulinhio - 5.5 Tried to get involved but not much came off for him.
Benteleb - 5 Struggled all round.
Townsend - 4 Lazy, poor control and decision making...SHOOT!!
Chadli - 5 Decent first half, not a lot from him in the second.
Soldado - 4.5 Some good link up play but should have had 2 tonight.

Eriksen - 5 Tried to make things tick but hussled out of his stride.
Kane - N/A
 
Friedel 8.5 - MOM made some fantastic saves kept us in the tie

Naughton 6 - dealt with Konoplyanka decently until last few minutes nothing going forward
Dawson 5 - out of sorts would be lower but had a few goal saving blocks
Vertonghen 3 looked uninterested lazy play to give away pen
Rose 6 some poor positioning but he did have some nice contributions the set up to disallowed Eriksen goal was class as was cut back for Chadli

Capoue 0 - worst player for us by some distance. constantly out of position and misplacing passes/tackles is he seriously a DM because he looks as if he never has played there and has no idea what he is doing?
Paulinho 6.5 thought he was decent got forward should have had an assist and should have been awarded a pen or had their player sent off in first half
Bentaleb 5 some tidy passing but not involved enough today
Townsend 3 terrible constantly running into blind alleys and having pot shots from distance. trying too hard
Chadli - 4.5 had some nice touches but mostly anonymous becoming a typical Chadli performance sadly enough
Soldado 4 - missed a sitter and another good chance in first half his link up play was actually decent today but we can't keep carrying on with him 30m for goals is the bottom line and he is not cutting the mustard
 
Friedel -7- Out quickly and made some decent saves.

Naughton -6- Up until the 60th minute I thought he was having a great game. After that he was roasted by Konoplyanka
Vertonghen -5- He looked fed up but still did his fair share.
Dawson -4- Was roasted on a couple of occasions and poor distribution.
Rose -4-/-6- Danny Rose defending = 4. Danny Rose attacking = 6. The guy does give us so much going forward but he really needs to switch on defensively soon, because a new LB is looking a certainty.

Capoue -5- He made some key interceptions and tackles, but looked unfit and slow at times.
Bentaleb -5- No better than the rest in midfield. The pitch didn't suit his natural game but then that can be said for a lot of our players
Paulinho -6- Bottled challenges, didn't link up well with Soldado early on. He did however put in a beauty of a cross that deserved burying.

Townsend -4- Very poor night. He looked like a very poor kick and run merchant and his decision to shoot in some positions was poor.
Chadli -6- In the first half he was very good and played well, but did spoon a tremendous chance high and wide.
Soldado -6- The guy should've had two tonight. The header he missed and that tap in. I don't even think it skipped up off the turf that much. That said his all round play was really really good and if not for a lack of understanding a couple of times would've had a couple of assists from Paulinho.


Eriksen and Kane didn't do much although you could argue that Kane did a lot in his cameo. Next week we will have a hard job because they will play for a draw.
 
Difficult game, pitch bouncy and awkward (for both sides). Ramos predictably put out a very fit, physically robust side with the outstanding Konoplyanka giving us hell all night long.

Friedel 8 - so many vital stops, came off his line in true Lloris fashion, distributed well
Naughton 5 - given the runaround by Konoplyanka but kept at it. You wonder how much betterl Walker would have coped though
Dawson 6 - many important interceptions but dangerously prone to playing the opposition onside
Verthonghen 6 - often uncomfortable, but it wasn't a pen, the foul was completed just outside the box
Rose 5 - some good raids with mixed results but consistently caught way too far upfield when Dnipro attacked allowing them the freedom of the flank
Townsend 4 - still shooting on sight from too far out, also increasingly showing Bentley-like tendency to take on too many defenders when a simple pass would do the trick Sherwood needs to sort him out pdq
Capoue 5 - after that impressive performance against Toon he's back once again to looking error-prone
Bentaleb 5 - caught in possession too often but should have won a pen when clearly fouled in the box
Chadli 5 - nice touches but failed to produce when the openings came his way
Paulhinho 5 - some infuriating passing but also looked dangerous going forward at times
Soldado 5 - plenty of good touches mixed in with some rank bad ones, meanwhile the nightmare of fluffed chances continues unabated

Subs
Eriksen 7 - looked our most creative outfield player, unlucky to have that strike ruled out offside, it was very marginal
Kane 6 - came close to scoring at the death
 
Ratings? Let me see now... So Dawson with Townsend and Chadli... no not Chadli, Rose, yeah Rose I would give them a ..., maybe more to Rose so that would make it a... WE SUCKED ! WE FOCKING SUCKED, a 42 yo man was our best player, BY FAR. Rating : headless chickens.

Couldn't believe how poor Capoue and Townsend were. Capoue looked like a 16 yr old that had never played DM before. Townsend just didn't look right all night and worryingly seemed to have lost his blistering pace and powerful shot.

Rather than try and win a first team starting place, the whole team (bar Brad) really fluffed their chance to show what they could do. Disappointing to say the least.
 
Brad - 8.5 / unlucky with the penalty, level headed and measured.
Naughton - 7 / some nice passes, but got mugged once badly.
Dawson - 5 / oh dear
Verts / 5 / as above
Rose / 6
Capoue / 5 was Dogpoue
Pauli - 6.5 / better second half
Bents - 5/ passenger
Chadli / 5
Towns / 4 - Pony but at least looked like he cared
Soldado 6.5 / missed a sitter but some lovely touches and a couple of very nice thru balls.

Naughton - 7 - played well first half, struggled in the second
Dawson - 4 - seriously poor from the skipper
Vertonghen - 5 - not good, not good at all. Struggles in games we don't dominate/control
Rose - 6 - put in a good shift, needs to improve lots defensively however

Townsend - 5 - did nothing. So average it's painful
Capoue - 5 - didn't do a very good job in the holding role. Positionally poor
Bentaleb - 5 - just finished watching and the comm said "hasn't looked out of place this season" did he not watch our games v City & Everton? Just doesn't contribute enough to warrant starting games right now
Paulinho - 5 - didn't get involved enough for the most advanced midfielder. Very inconsistent so far
Chadli - 4 - had a shocker. Has very few winger traits tbh

Soldado - 3 - poor overall but that miss takes the biscuit

Eriksen - 5 - didn't influence the game when he came on unfortunately
Kane - n/a - too late
