Sad to hear the report of the death of a true legend. I saw him play for Preston in the first game I went to at WHL, but can't remember much about the game. My dad use to say he was the best English player he had seen.

I saw him at Enfield in a frendly ....John Charles ..I think it was played in the same Team!
It was down the wing with Finney ..straight on Charles's head into the net.
...but Finney was such a tricky and remarkable player ..although still miles past his best in retirement.
From my all in depth knowledge of watching great players ..Finney was right up, there no doubt about it..
as an example he was a better player than Ryan Giggs..its an oppinion of course...
RIP Tom Finney....
