Pushing Up The Daisies - 2022

Local Tottenham boy Leslie Phillips past away today aged 98, always played a smooth ladies man in comedy films in 50/60s and star in radio comedy The Navy Lark as incompetent naval officer for years.

Saw him on this pretty vile (even by today's standards) podcast a week or two ago, the name escapes me, but he was blatantly strung out and obviously struggling mental health wise.

Now, the channel will profit greatly from shining a spotlight on someone struggling presumably while offering no actual help, so we, the viewer can sit with popcorn and watch another tortured sould destroy themselves. It would have been less profitable to say "It's not appropriate to film this person in this condition, maybe we should actually help him", but I'm sure that's a woke-y, tofu eating do-gooder viewpoint because money matters more than human life (apparently).

Keith Levene from PiL and Nik Turner from Hawkwind is a bit of a double whammy for a Saturday.

RIP loved a bit of the Hawks.

Just got a call from old team mate to tell me Sir David English had died. He was a great bloke and did a great job for English cricket through his Bunbury Cricket Club, he managed RSO records. I played football and cricket with him when he was a youngster and he was a real character, would keep the dressing room laughing and always has a quip for our opponents, he will be missed by many.

His talent scheme has brought through so many top English cricketers too
