Yang needs some finishing practice but his head didn’t drop in fairness to him.

Donley looked comfortable and assured on the ball. Don’t think Bergvall is any better than him?

LWB looks good, few bad crosses in but that can be worked on.

Very much a run out for the younger players, suspect an eye on Saturday may be why

Well, got it done on penalties.

LWB, Tonali, Robertson and Scarlett scored our penalties. Their keeper saved Donley’s effort.

They hit the post with one, and Dubravka saved one.

So we won 4-2. Should have won comfortably in 90 minutes such was our performance but it reinforces that we need investment in the attacking third.

Caution on Tel. He’s been positive and looked event but breezing past the Auckland RB (last game) is a different world to what waits in the prem.

Having said that - I’m leaning towards him over Savio tbh. Maybe the pain of last season was with it from a development perspective.

of course we'd love a top top class winger, and I think Tel will be a very effective player for us too IMO.

LWB is a giant conundrum. He is probably the most naturally impudent and exciting young player I've seen come through the ranks for a long, long time, but he does have the decision-making of a 17 year old too! I am torn as to whether a really good loan is best OR appearances off the bench? It'll be interesting to see him against Chelsea at the weekend. Happy for Kyrematen too, a really skillful player who is showing how verstile he is (I remember him coming through as an attacking player), and Donely always looks decent to me...

Only saw the last 30mins. Worked lots of great positions followed by a bad cross/pass or weak finish. Just rammed home what we already know. Our long term forward injuries are still massively hurting us and if Madders and Kudus are struggling for the start of the season we are gonna need a couple of real quality additions to go straight into the team.

I think that a loan is needed for LWB. He has so much confidence already but we want to build on that. So using him as a sub only might knock his confidence if he struggles to get into matches. I think he’ll be best starting for a championship club and then with view he becomes a first team squad player for us next season.

Could have easily scored 4 or 5 there, Gallagher and LWB hit the woodwork, Yang missed a couple, context needs to be applied around the quality of the opposition but it’s a fairly decent run out. Saturday should see more of a senior starting XI and a better indication where we are at right now.

Donely always looks decent to me

He does, but he only plays in one tempo, and that is probably why he won't take the final step. Seems he lacks pace and explosiveness. Doesn't have that burst of pace. Good passer and technically very good, but his lack of mobility is hurting his chances imo.

If we could quickly develop LWB he will leapfrog any of the existing incumbents.

I would be very disappointed if Williams-Barnett was used as a left winger, he's a creative attacking midfielder who likes to be at centre of things, his decision making will improve particularly if we get forwards that move intelligently.
