I would argue in any form. Some folks confuse capitalism with commerce, quite understandably, but all forms of capitalism consume the host eventually. It is the nature of it. The extraction, the inputs to capitalism, that has for centuries mostly taken place in the Global South, the periphery, has moved into the core. We could turn a blind eye to it before in the 1st world but it is now on our doorstep. The protests on affordability, housing, the fact that each generation is now becoming poorer than the last, the growing inequality are symptoms of late-stage capitalism. We see the commodification of everything - housing, medicine, data, even your creativity plagiarised by AI. What is next for us I don't know but capitalism is not it. I think we're fudged to be honest.

Whatever definitions we use, I find it hard to avoid concluding that your last sentence is the truth, and only ponder how long we have.

Crazy how much you can earn just from being in high positions even if you didn't perform. Osbourne has earnt a load since and Watson is Palantir PR lead, Clegg got a plum job at Meta etc.

Osbourne is quite impressive at the British Museum by most accounts. There's some funny stories about him trying to give Greece back the Parthenon statues
