Piano in Rap

N10 Yiddo

Andy Gray
Couldn't find the old Rap/Hi-Hop but is it me or is piano in rap the absolute dogs gonad*s? IMO makes the lyrics so much more meaningful rather than the random brick that's on the radio now.

Thoughts?

Violins pretty decent also. Anyone heard of Miri Ben Ari 'The Hip-Hop Violinist'? Worth a listen.

N10 Yiddo, Do you like the Transplants?
Their early piano work on their songs, was a little too immature for my taste. However their major label breakthrough "Transplants" came out in 2002 and I think they really came into their own artistically and commercially. The whole album has a catchy, melodic piano part and a lyrics that are delivered in a punchy manner that really give the songs a big boost.

He has been compared to Fat Mke, but I feel that Tim Armstrong has a more Cynical Bitter sense of humour . In 2004, the Transplants released Haunted Cities, their most accomplished album.

I think their undisputed masterpiece, has to be Diamonds and Guns, a rap song so catchy and full of Piano, people only usually listen to the piano and ignore the lyrics. But they shouldn't, as its not just about the pleasures of acquiring wealth and the importance of the gangstah lifestyle, but its also a personal statement about the band itself.
