Phrases that take on new meaning.

jts1882

Dean Richards
A phrase often becomes associated with a person, whether a catch-phrase, title of a programme or song, or lyrics from a song. Sometimes they can take on a new, often darker, meaning in retrospect. A few recent examples:

Jimmy Savile and Jim'll Fix It.

Gary Glitter and wanna be in my gang.

Lance Armstrong's challenge what are you on? and Nike's slogan Just Do It

What else?

An unfortunate comment by Prince Charles about Savile

Charles reportedly sent him a box of cigars and a pair of gold cufflinks on his 80th birthday with a note that read: "Nobody will ever know what you have done for this country Jimmy. This is to go some way in thanking you for that."
