Just popping back to this thread to confirm that Gloukh did absolutely nothing all game. Israel just sat back in a very deep 442 and would not push forwards at all, they would not even engage with our centre backs. At the end of the first half our centre backs were standing still in the centre circle with the ball and Israel refused to come out and challenge!

Curtis Jones of Liverpool snuffed out Gloukh any time he got interested.
Morgan Gibbs-White and Anthony Gordon were the standout players, far better than Smith-Rowe.
Angel Gomes did his usual thing in the middle, very tidy, snuffing things out, bouncing around.
Our full backs are very defensive i.e. terrible going forwards, always looking to just play it meekly back to someone else, never daring to go for it (Garner of Everton and Thomas of Leicester IIRC)

Garner isn’t a full back and is playing there to fill a gap. He will always IMO age safety firstb

angel Gomes has done really well to change his game. He was an attacking type of CM before but this move has allowed him to play deeper but shine more

If you had put Messi in that Isreali side he would struggle, I dont know if it was nerves in a big game or terrible tactic but the training cones would have put up a better fight.
