+++ OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Sunderland 12th April 2026 +++

Seems that (boyhood Tottenham fan) Roy Keane ain’t too keen on our midfield options… how we could do with a leader of his calibre to get us out of this rut…

If Pahlinha is on the pitch, that goal doesn’t happen. Problem is, he’s very very limited on the ball and we’re fudged for creativity as it is. What a fudging mess of a squad.

Correct, he has to play for me as we really have no one else to protect the defence.
Let him get the ball and give it simple to those who have more passing ability.
We're lacking our 3 most creative players, the ones we have available IMO are Bergvall, Tel, Xavi and Porro.

A lot on here seem to like knocking Xavi, but the only time we look like resembling any creative football is when he is on the pitch.

Sure it might not all come off, but he at least looks to play forwards and quickly. He is needed, Bentancur returning will be an underrated bonus too.....

This for me as well he is the only player we have who sees danger before others. I saw a stat the other day that said he has more tackles then any other M/F player in the league. And considering he has not played a lot lately shows IMO that he should be in the team more often.

Bergvall loses the ball way too often
He does create sometimes when losing it though like he did for Richy
He does but at least he tries to beat a player or two, we need players who try to make things happen. As long as he's got someone behind him like Palhinha as cover to give him licence to get forward and try to create.

He is the only creative spark in the squad given injuries to Kulusevski and Maddison so it makes sense. Whatever coaches reservations seem to be he needs to start all remaining games otherwise we are down (we may go down with him starting but i'd rather go down TRYING to make something happen that isn't just rolling over and accepting our fate)

Seems that simple
But clearly some managers don’t see it that way

Tbf I think it’s been every manager so far who’s had him available.
I think there is probably the concern that he will get pushed off the ball and bullied too easily and he is still adapting to the physicality of English football, but he runs at players, he spots a pass and he is a threat with his shooting from outside the box in the same way Son was. He loves a long range curler and so he is the only player available that would make the opposition uncomfortable when playing a lower block.

I think this narrative is a bit over exaggerated about Simons tbh.

Hes started 17 Premier League games and come on as a sub in 9 out of a possible 29 that he was at the club for. This was after Frank took his time bedding him into the team, and the less said about Tudor the better.

De Zerbi has had one away game, considering he mentioned Simons specifically in the press conference twice regarding his talent it's not a stretch to think he is very much in his plans.....

Do any of us like our midfield options? 🤣

I mean even the Gray factor, everyone is giving him loads of credit but truthfully is he actually playing that exceptionally, objectively speaking? I don't think so, he's doing well for his age, he's doing well considering the state we are in but is he a top 10 or even top 20 midfielder in the PL this season? Again I don't see it.

The funny thing with that video you posted is I remember earlier this season having a discussion with someone and they were aghast that Sunderland were doing better than us and I made the point at the time that they had a better midfield than we did and that the Xhaka was the type of player we need and then look the stats from the game, he had more touches than all 3 of our midfielders combined. 😭
