***OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Saturday August 29th, 5.30pm, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium***

Starting 11 I'd like to see for next game

Kinsky
Porro - Danso - VdV - Robertson
Fernandes - Tonali
Kudus - Marmoush - Savio
Solanke

They were not the regulars.. That was Vic, Porro Van der Ven and Romero. When Danso and Kinsky came in we were more solid and even more so with Spence next to Danso on the right.

I think that is largely because we were playing without any real attacking adventure and often sat deep precisely to defend and hope we could pinch something.
What this guy wants is totally different. Sorry, Kevin Danso is not going to be effective in that style. He's a great guy to have off the bench/in the squad, but he is not a starter in this style.

There are alot of players available from that squad today that could and should produce more. Having to play Tel and Gray shouldn't be an issue as others make it.

BTW this isn't me not giving him time, its not me giving up, its me just expecting even the slightest smidgen more.

Two games, 5 goals agaisnt, none for, it needs to improve
I think Tel is a massive issue. Don't rate him at all. 🤣

He fudged up all the good opportunities that fell his way today. Put a decent player in his pace and I think we at least get some shots the keeper needs to save. He was detrimental to our result today. 😅

With the way I look at football I think it's all really about balance. If your balance is good it makes up for inadequate players because even if they aren't the quality needed they provide what side needs. But today and against Brentford the 11s selected lacked balance (today was much better balanced though imo), so we are almost playing against ourselves to some extent. It was the same last year (just much worse). I truly do think we need that starting LWF actually starting and a 10 in midfield to balance out the side.

The technical side has gone up a lot
But for some of the technical players to excel you need others who aren’t as good
If the manager wants a side that’s technical great but has no physical presence we will get beaten by any organised side that’s technical that can over power us

I think this is the issue/pain part. We need to be bigger and stronger. We are currently 'small'.

Sorry I’m obviously a jinx. First Spurs league match since 2018 I’ve been to. And utter garbage. So tinkled off with it all. Nothing positive to say.

Yes, today Matty cost us IMO.

In fairness to RDZ, he had a plan and Savio's precautionary withdrawel changed it.

I said it before re: Marmoush, there's some Sonny about him and also (for me anyway) a dash of the Dele. I would like to see him operate off Solanke's shoulder/as a different sort of 10, getting the chance to pickup the ball in pockets and run at defenders/slide passes, OR as a tighter left-forward with the width coming from FB. He is not a 9. With Gakpo now going to City, let's see if the Richy/Ndiaye thing has legs...

Then we will still keep conceding soft goals. Any style has to start from a solid defensive base. Van Hecke played with a water carrier next to him at Brighton. If you put Van hecke Porro and VDV in a defence together we will be more open. And it is likely a season of struggle will follow.

Dont play him then, play Marmoush left and Solanke central, thats my point about options.

Anyway, we will see how we go next.

Marmoush showed quality
Play him with a striker who can impose himself and he will shine
But that defence is just so weak

It needs a higher degree of aggression and will IMO. For me, this is precisely what we have lost with Romero. I know he's not a cool name around these parts, but he is tough and uncompromising.

He is
But he is also rash and reckless
Issue is that we need defenders who enjoy defending
We don’t seem to have them now
