***OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Saturday August 29th, 5.30pm, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium***

Again I rate him but I did try and tell people before he signed the sort of player he was.

He's never been an impose his will on the game player. When I said he's not a metronome this is what I meant, he doesn't dictate games.

I didn't really rate him before and the fact we spent 100m on him totally fried my brain

Not even sure what this means tbh
You spend the money we spent on players and at the very least you expect their quality and personal responsibility to their performance show through. The level.of copium on "work in progress" only does so much heavily lifting.

Im not writing any player of but im expecting alot more than seeing from those on and off the pitch.

Waiting longer than HS2 as a work in progress, when managers have a billion quids worth of players, regardless of fan bias on who they are, it should be better

Its the difference he can make long term

We spent early summer changing the backline, famously starting at the back, it currently looks a shocker of a build.
We’ve also spent £220m on three number 8s since Jan. We already had about 5 and haven’t shifted any of them.

Yet we are letting games take place with Tel and Porro in the forward line.

I’m again left calling out the football operations leaders. Fail to prepare….

This season should be different from last season with the money spent but same old issues, concede goals while unable to score. Doesn't look good so far.
Time will tell. We have a much better group of players to call from to make that improvement but it's going to take some time. We were never going to be able to slot them all in and get cohesive performances immediately, hell we might never but in match day 2 this is what you should expect. Some good some bad and a fair bit of disjointed play.

Its rare that sides have bad starts and heat up, usually the other way. I just hope we buck a load of trends and quick

That was hilariously terrible. I thought we were pretty comfortable first half without forcing their keeper into too much work.

Second half we were significantly worse. Actually we were toss. We gifted them two goals and never looked like scoring. We were utterly toothless up front and embarrassingly (albeit predictably) porous and naive at the back. Never looked like scoring.

Tel was atrocious. I’ve no idea why Gray is playing RB again and until Kudus came on they didn’t have anything to worry them at all. Fernandes did OK I suppose, but there was dynamism, pace, skill or penetration anywhere else.

Yet another embarrassing performance at our “fortress”. It seems inconceivable that we could be in sober relegation struggle this season (and it’s very early) but we’ve been absolutely brushed aside by two sides already this season. And that’s not two top teams, by the way. That’s Brentford and Saudi Sportswashing Machine. Brentford and Saudi Sportswashing Machine. No goals. No passion. No domination. 180 minutes of turgid, meek, directionless football. Early indications are that it’s going to be another long and soulless season.

I can accept some disjointed play but the defence is not good and given the strengths of the personnel in it, I'm not sure time is going to make much difference. We've basically replaced Romero with Van Hecke and its the same poor back 4 we've seen for 2 seasons. Of the actual defenders one has left and one sits on the bench every game

The technical side has gone up a lot
But for some of the technical players to excel you need others who aren’t as good
If the manager wants a side that’s technical great but has no physical presence we will get beaten by any organised side that’s technical that can over power us
