We pressed hard in the first half and Everton consistently turned over possession. In the second half, it looked as if the boys had run out of petrol, as the pressing fell away and Everton's midfield had more time on the ball. Soldado had no service at all and our midfield seem to have two plans. Shoot from outside the box themselves, or lay the ball off square. Serioulsly we look inept and lack of scoreboard pressure will tell over the course of the season. As for the football, completely unengaging.

We took control of the first half and enjoyed 59 per cent possession, but the Toffees turned that around by the final whistle with overall 52-48 possession in their favour.
