*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Atletico Madrid ***

One huge standout thing again
We ran
We ran more and more and it made them uncomfortable
I refuse to believe that Frank didn’t have the team fit enough, that IMO would be something he would be in too from day one
So what’s changed to get that intensity up?
If players don't know where to run, it's hard for them to play with intensity. More and more it seems like a lack of clear coaching.

Exactly this. You can’t run in the horseshoe because you’re meant to be standing in pretty much the same place all match.

Loved our intensity yesterday, and in particular how comfortable the players seemed playing that way

Yes , we’re talking about elite athletes. I’m sure they prefer to be pushing themselves.
It’s many a year now since I’ve seen the inside of a gym but when I did go regularly and had a PT I equally hated and loved (after the session at least) being pushed to my limit.
Not comparing myself to a PL footballer or any other elite athlete lol 😂, but it makes sense that the players enjoy playing with intensity. Obviously more to it than just that - structure, players in the right position, a plan, etc. But it bodes well.

Hearing Tudor afterwards saying that the doctors had said Bergvall, Udogie and Gallagher could only really play for 25-30 minutes makes me see a positive to extra-time not having been forced.
How typical would it have been for us to find a way through but, in so doing, set back the recovery of three players.

Purely wrt the weekends importance to our season, extra time would have been a nightmare scenario last night

Obviously I know little of how modern team management works but I feel the system is the priority with managers, talking to ex players it seemed the players had an input to the process and more freedom of expression in their play in the past.
I loved training when i played gave me a chance to compete with team mates and try thing in practice I'd rarely do in a game as i was too cautious.

Being battered by Barcelona over two legs in a few weeks wouldn't have done us much good either. Maybe a win and good performance while still exiting the competition was, frustratingly, the better outcome for us this season.
And it's given us a 25 game unbeaten home record in Europe.

A coach that listens to his medical experts? That feels novel
