*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa FC ***

I remember the CWC SF against Barca at the Lane. They were hands down the dirtiest side I have ever seen at the Lane. Butchers. I have always held a slight grudge against them and their saintly reputation since...
The ref was really biased that night if it was the game Clemence fumbled the ball i remember it well. Imagine if that happened today the media would crucify Vic

We'd have walked that game if we'd already have had Souza. Lange out!

Although as per our one in one out policy demonstrated by Richy kindly making way for the returning Solanke, presumably once the obscure Brazilian kid comes in we'll probably lose Spence for a few months.

Anywho. We're out of the cup. That's what you get when you want until the 60th minute to start playing. Had it continued to be so bad I was worried it'd turn in to a full on brawl between players and fans...Some moments here and there but we just aren't a good team at the moment. Everyone is capable of mistakes but it was howler from Vic that would've put us three down, whatever the circumstances, we are adept at giving the opposition easy chances.

Midfield is a big problem (maybe it was about formations rather than quality today), even with Palhinha being class, what combination of players goes with him to provide what we need. Sure he's young so how dare I expect anything but I'm not seeing it with Archie in Midfield, and I'm rarely impressed by Bentancur. Sarr and Bergvall are ones to watch but they need a real meastro alongside them to make it work.
I think Bergvall is clearly talented but is still very raw and not yet ready for a regular starting place yet. Probably the same for several youngsters. I do really rate Archie Gray though, but this is his break out season as a regular starter in midfield for us (I mostly remember him as CB last season). We need to give him time to make the position his and why it’s great playing alongside those more experienced players especially Palhinha.

Palhinha needs to do dish out some Dier on Fabregash style treatment to that Goon clam Watkins at the end of this season  Hopefully by May we’ll be the ones doing the goading 🤞

Good on Palhinha. Love the guy. So unfairly carded during that game.

Like seeing that. Watkins was being a clam. If Pahlinha let that go, you’d say he didn’t care.

Well 4 more games before Jan is up. I reckon Frank will get those games. It’s not all on him tho but he did get a reaction at HT I was pleased to see that but we were no where near it in the first half and I did fear the worse. Solanke back is a positive and Xavi had his best 45 in a spurs shirt. Jury is out for me on Tel still. Richy and Manuani can leave I’ll give them the taxi fee to the airport. There are a few others but too late tonight. COYS
I thought Tel was our best player.

It was more or less what I expected, but I still managed to feel disappointed in the end. My main beef with Frank is that, despite being set up to cancel the opposition's attacking threat, we can't defend at all. The marking was absolutely awful all game long. Then again, VDV and, to an extent, Danso, were brought in for a manager with a completely different system and philosophy.

Yes, that's what happens when you randomly switch from a manager who goes all-in on the attack to another who plays with a mid/low block: you get players who don't fit in. Some elite players can do a bit of everything, but not mid-range defenders like ours.

The best team and possibly the best manager won yesterday. We have a lower midtable squad without the character/drive to pull off an upset every now and then. We're getting what we deserve after years of very poor decisions at boardroom level. As far as I can tell, we're back to square one: a mediocre squad and average managers with a very short lifespan.

A bit more effort in the 2nd half but there was no real quality there, barely created anything. We're desperate for either the players to gel or for more quality in the final third (probably both). Simons is starting to at least look better.

Tel, Xavi, Odobert, Bergvall, Paulhinha, Kudus will look like monsters if any of them were in Villa's side ..

And that says it all, the squad has quality, not enough balance and not the tactics to make it work.

Totally blinkered to any context or the important variables. The main one is a stable side with a stable manager. Fit key players are also key.

All in negativity will only create less stability and consistency for us. You couldn’t make up how delusional some fans are. We need to give the manager time and stop looking like an entitled fanbase that won’t let any manager do their work.
