**** OMT Tottenham Hotspur FC v Bodo Glimt ****

Chris Cowlin said that Paratici was on the same flight to Bodø. But is he working for us?
Ali Gold says:

Vivienne Lewis and her son-in-law Nick Beucher, two of the powerful figures behind Spurs, were in Bodo this week, watching the U19s beat their counterparts 6-0 on Tuesday morning and then the first team unable to do similar late that evening.

The duo joined Spurs' CEO Vinai Venkatesham and technical director Lange for a walk alongside the Norwegian sea after a pre-match lunch that afternoon

Fabio Paratici was in the Norwegian town, having fresh from being handed an 18-month suspended jail sentence by an Italian court following a plea deal for the well-documented activities at Juventus.

His presence was another sign that the club's former managing director of football is still expected to eventually return from his consultancy role into a more official position again despite that sentence and Daniel Levy's departure.

I thought he was our best attacking player of all the starters last night. Actually tried to make something happen every time he got the ball, despite being largely isolated.

I don't think he has the personality on the ball to be a difference maker. I also saw several times when he simply went laterally or backwards versus trying to advance matters. His movement off it can also be frustrating. He is a very different player to Johnson, and also to Richy. It will be interesting to see how he develops. Hope he has placed egg on my face in May!

I agree regarding Odobert's personality on the ball, I hope he can develop and am not wanting to write him off yet at all. But in my opinion, when I look at Tel and Odobert I think Tel has what it takes to succeed here more than Odobert IMO. Things might not be coming off for Tel right now, but his personality and mentality to me he looks like he will belong on the big stage and it's just a question of patience.....

It's worth noting, I think, how we as Spurs fans tend to focus on individuals having to do such and such, and then we will succeed. "If we only get this guy back from injury" and "if we only get this profile in January" - yet we're at times outplayed by a team that cost the fraction of our's.

Bodø Glimt is a great example of a team built over time, not necessarily by a style of play set in stone, but by a philosophy off the pitch through the ranks that promotes togetherness and team spirit - the fans being a big part of that.

We can do that here. Hopefully Frank and the new ownership structure can guide us there. Fingers crossed. Let's try to be patient. Building a proper team takes time.

I totally agree. But we never give anyone time. Since Glenn Hoddle in 2001, only 2 managers have lasted more than 2 seasons -- Redknapp and Pochettino. I have little confidence that Frank has what it takes to become the 3rd manager to do that, given we just sacked someone despite winning a European trophy. Maybe Vinai will change that, but who knows.

It's similar with players. Young players like Tel written off within a few months, racially abused on social media etc. There is no patience, no time given.

Yeah, we're impatient. I think we have an unfortunate dynamic of fans expecting too much too early, which piles pressure on the manager, which in turn puts pressure on the team and it just spirals away until there is no other choice but to sack. Once we get beyond a certain threshhold there doesn't seem to be any other way. I honestly don't know how we're gonna counteract that. We're too big, I think.

Pretty much every manager since 2001 bar Poch, Jol & Harry (the last 2 basically sacked themselves by looking for other jobs) has had the fan base all over them baying for their sacking. Let’s not make out this is the club acting outside of what the supporters want, if it was down to a public vote Ange would have gone about 10 months before he did for example.
Sorry but you should be directing your patience comments at the fans!

100% agree. My comments are the club as a whole. I think Levy merely was a reflection of the fanbase. His impatience wasn't in spite of fans, it was very much in line with it.

I think we need to stop focusing on sacking managers as the problem. Recruiting the wrong ones in the first place is the actual problem.

With Frank, we need to be certain that he was a Vinai hire. If he was a Levy hire, and Vinai just sat there with no say and silent disagreement then that will come home to roost at some point. Vinai could easily play that card at some point in the future if Frank is struggling to attain his goals that have been set.

We've all seen some terrible hires over the decades and they've mostly been credited to Levy by the fans. We clearly can't blame Daniel anymore.

Frank might end up being as thick skinned as Eddie Howe. According to some, a superstar manager has been lined up to replace him for about 3 seasons. He keeps cracking on with the job though and doing a good job.

Not unusual for that personality on the ball to not be there yet at that age, but come later. If it will or not is a different question.

Wholeheartedly agree!

I think it is loudmouth di ckhead fans that are the problem.

They don't want to be seen as weak or contemplative or positive, so amongst their neanderthal friend group they'll all start sniping and saying it is brick and slowly they all climb aboard the same train and spread discord.

It takes a while to turn a club around from finishing 17th.
Frank is a good manager, intelligent, fair, well-liked and speaks a lot of truth.
Let him do his job.

Won’t be a popular opinion here but I’ve thought the same for quite some time now, there’s an air of negativity around the fan base, sexy is no longer a barb from rival fans, it’s a mantra for our own to spew! Like a defence mechanism for when things inevitably / eventually go wrong, an I told you so.

When richy missed that chance early ins he had stopped running …
He should have carried in going just in case

I’ve not see anyone say sack him
That is almost as an extreme a comment as it gets
I do agree recruiting the wiring ones is costly but we can’t judge frank for some time

Patience is not something spurs fans seem to want to adopt as a mind set
You will get all the counter arguments around cost of tickets, style of football, lack of investment all to justify that lack of willingness to some people time
But the players and staff have to earn that time too by working and getting better so there is progress
