But if you choose not to play the creative players your left with no creativity and run the risk of the opposition just steam rollering you
Monaco did it as good as anyone I’ve seen in that they didn’t bother with any defensive cover

We don't have creative players available - so you make a choice to either focus on wing play or double up on our non specific CMs (in addition to Palinha) and try to win out on numbers, but then you sacrifice an attacker/potential goals - which is another area we are lacking.

Xavi says high
But what was the focus today for attack then?
We played 2 players kind of behind Richy
One passer in defence none in midfield
Which meant everytime we went forward it was hit and hope. Thats not creativity and not anything you describe above
It’s almost as if he is waiting for something to happen which maybe won’t happen
How about have your singers do their role and also have a player with them centrally. Was trendy for a period

I would happily have settled for a midfield 3 of Pahlinha, Sarr and Bergvall. Runners who can also carry the ball. Bergvall also brings personality. Gray too. He has options, albeit not in terms of the pure creativity we crave...

I’d like
One of Palhina or Bentcaur
Then a guy who will run like Sarr or Bergvall. If we want to be more solid play gray who also can pass well
Then xavi or even Kudus
If we think that we will have players back fit and firing that will have an impact anytime soon I think we’re doomed

absolutely bang on.

Slim pickings there atm unfortunately - we sorely lack creativity in the middle of the pitch and it is only heightened by the absences of Maddison & Kulusevski
Is it really... today we had Odebert Kudus and Ricchi in front of two DM's.
We could have had one DM and Bergville, Odebert, Xavi, Kudus, Ricchi.
Or Sarr, RKM, Kudus, Xavi, Ricchi.

The point is we had 3 attacking players on the pitch and we could have had 4 or 5, whilst still keeping shape.

Negative teams overload the defensive areas of the team, Positive teams overload the midfield.

We are a very negative team right now.

We all used to complain about not being able to create enough chances to break down teams constantly playing a low block against us. At the moment we have become that team again.
Id rather be frustrated watching us attacking rather than be frustrated watching us defending.

A truly pathetic performance. Much like Chelsea. That sort of performance will be forgiven and forgotten at Brentford. It’s unacceptable at Tottenham.

Vicario’s interview was very, very worrying. For a player to say there was no fight in any game is remarkable. To say it in a NLD rings alarm bells.

Of course, Frank should get time and space to get things right. He has to do better than he’s currently doing though. It’s not good enough.

Xavi from the little I have seen is not a creative player, not with regards to passing anyway and certainly not from deep which is where we are lacking.

IDK what the focus for attack today was as we never showed an ability to do so, we were by design or by being outplayed penned back and rarely strung enough passes together to decipher the plan.

Today was an absolutely sickening disgrace of an abortion of a game.

I do think Frank has had some success. But we gave the game away with that line up. And the Lewis family are going to to have to spend a lot more than. £100m if they want us to believe their bs.

First Chelsea now this I am sick to my bones and frankly fed up with the absolute bs we have had to put up with in terms of investment and performances for so long.

Absolutely sickening and disgraceful:
I’m sure the ticket prices (top of the league) will continue to have no relevance to the quality of football.

They looked like a side bewildered by their remit.
Apologies as I’ve hugely truncated your post but watching today I really couldn’t work out the game plan, other than setting up defensively. I assumed it was maybe get to half time at 0-0 but obviously that didn’t work. But beyond that there didn’t seem to be any plan to get the ball forward, to attack, even on the counter.
The players do seem a bit non-plussed at what to do.
I just wish we’d had some strength, some bite, some fight - just something we could get behind and cheer and encourage, even when we know we lack the real quality to win games like this, at least make them work for it.
I’m just holding on to the belief that once a bottler, always a bottler will apply by the end of the season.

Agree with both of them
He isn’t a CM to play deep

That's how I would want to see us line up - we don't have a playmaker to play alongside Palinha so we need to double up on the central options alongside him and at least go man for man (sometimes a man advantage) even if the players aren't particularly creative as it gives you options to play through the opposition. I guess playing WBs gives you the potential to have that match-up in different areas of the pitch (wide rather than central) but we were too easily pinned back there today
