Went to see Vampire Weekend last night. I don't really like them (a little too jingly jangly and preppy for me, and that baroque sound they use can just suck my balls - but my wife is a huge fan so that's why we went) and I was pleasantly surprised actually. Seeing them live and loud the songs had a lot more punch/driving bass and drums to them and they are tight technically which I can appreciate.

Checked out the set list from the previous night and it was exactly the same which always disappoints me but when you only have three albums it can be slightly forgiven I guess. I find it more unforgivable for bands like Rolling Stones/U2 etc. I feel blessed to be a Pearl Jam fan who change it up every gig.

My wife was ecstatic so I get the bonus benefits of that too! \o/

Just ordered the jam studio recordings vinyl boxed set, cant wait to spend a weekend with my turntable.

Must be about time Weller gave in and they did a reunion tour. Saw them at Crawley years ago, small crowd, tiny stage, brilliant gig.

Never going to happen. He's not one for harking back really, his latest solo albums have been some of the most experimental (and also best) of his career

We had Har Mar Superstar play a show in Bedford last night, incredible voice and a great show.

Also his support act (and backing singer) Lizzo was amazing, definitely worth catching if you get the chance!

I really wanted to go to the gig in Bristol on Wednesday but for one reason and another couldn't go.

Cannot wait for the new Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks album 'Wig Out at Jagbags' on Jan 6th!

Been listening to some new stuff (for me)...

Forest Swords
Courtney Barnett
AWOL Nation

Good to know there's interesting new music around.

Yeah, Forest Swords is pretty good! I'm listening to a guy called Basic House, man is just bat-**** crazy, some incredibly odd electronic compositions. Top notch, though!

Two of my favourite bands when I was a teenager, another time when Tottenham were struggling!

Finally got to see Alice In Chains live at Brixton Academy in 2009, obviously not quite the same without Layne but still better than most imo =D>

I see that Bush have (sort of) reformed, would like to hear Everything Zen live if they tour the UK again.

I ****ing love Pavement.

Malkmus is one of the standout song writers, guitarists and vocalists of the last 20 years.

I like a lot of his solo stuff too so will certainly pick this up.

Thanks for the heads up...

Why thank you!

He's the king of guitar-outros, love it.

Interesting that's from the Beeb... I taped a gig of theirs that was broadcast on the radio, probably Radio 1 I would have thought, that had the most amazing version of 'And Then (The Hexx)'.

Lost the tape years ago and have trawled Youtube to see if I can find the gig but to no avail. It'll crop up one day with the internet being the wonder that it is.

Best lead singer there ever was.

I was DJ'ing at the new year's party the other day, dancefloor just went mad when this came on, such a fantastic tune! :)
