The streamers cause it too. Frankenstein was deliberately made hard to see at the cinema, as Netflix only let them have a small number of showings

They only showed it at the minimum to be able to get nominated for oscars.
They're a streaming company. They make films to stream.
People used to be able to watch both movies in the theater and movies on streaming. Now they can't afford to go out as often.

THis is the worst year for box office in almost 3 decades. People haven't got money so will wait 3 months to see it streaming.
The American box office seems to be relying upon Wicked and Avatar to save 2025.

UK cinemas doing okay thankfully though, my local Odeon invariably busy since it had Luxe recliners installed.

By grandson recently made an interesting point when we were talking about film remakes, "why don't they remake of some of the poor adaptations rather than the classics?"

Its not a bad shout TBH

What I hate about remakes is you get too many fairly good actors who totally over ham up the part to play up to the original version, rather than doing something subtle and original with it.

It's definitely the way to go. Like the BBC His Dark Materials completely making up for the awful Golden Compass film. Someone needs to do the same with The Dark Is Rising (again made as an awful film called The Seeker).

Something for the Tarantino fans… thank feck they’ve got recliners in Leicester Square Odeon!
