Nabil Bentaleb

Re: Official Nabil Bentaleb Thread

If he continues to put in displays like this evening and also keeps improving which I am sure he will, then we have a future captain on our hands. He is the one guy in the team in the past few weeks who looks likes he cares and is actually playing for the shirt.
It would be nice to get in an experienced old head to show him the ropes so to speak, don't know who but somebody in the Pirlo class.

Re: Official Nabil Bentaleb Thread

What a brilliant performance today. Very good player, best thing Tim has done.

Re: Official Nabil Bentaleb Thread

I'm hopeful that next season we play with him playing as the deepest midfielder, distributing the ball smartly when in possesion and acting as the holder when without. He is clever and quick with his passing although he seems to struggle when around the opponents area, so perhaps this is the best role for him. That little move near the end of the game (when Kane stretched for the header) came from quick passing through the middle by him and Eriksen.

Agree…I think he's been a top player since he came in, and my one hope is that the fact TS promoted him doesn't count against him in the future…although any coach can see the boy's a proper talent...

Re: Official Nabil Bentaleb Thread

LVG will love him.......theres a bit of Strootman about the kid

Re: Official Nabil Bentaleb Thread

Seriously, WTF has happened with Bentaleb?? He's gone from TS's "pet" to not even getting a minute now??

Sherwood has said that he wanted to protect Bentaleb a bit as there was a lot of attention and pressure etc. (paraphrasing).

Makes some sense I suppose.

Re: Official Nabil Bentaleb Thread

I think it's stupid personally. Don't see how going from one extreme to another is helping him or "protecting" him. Any sane manager would've built his minutes up gradually and kept him involved, it's especially confusing when we're playing PAULINHO, SIGURDSSON AND CHADLI as our centre mids currently.

Re: Official Nabil Bentaleb Thread

The kid needed game time. He is going to the world cup. Silly decision in that sense.

Re: Official Nabil Bentaleb Thread

The fans moaning about him when his performances took a down turn was likely what Sherwood was protecting him from. You only need to look back through this thread and others to see how some fans dislike him, purely because Sherwood brought him in.

Re: Official Nabil Bentaleb Thread

So Sherwood is "protecting" Bentaleb?

So much for "I'm a manager not a babysitter" :ross:

What about protecting other players from "moaning fans"? Maybe he thought Soldado needed protection but Kane didn't...

Imagine if he gave our centre-backs as much protection:-k

Lets be fair here. Young players usually do get rest periods during seasons. In this respect Sherwood has done the same thing as many other coaches

How about resting him and then returning him gradually to the team? Where was this 'rest' when he continuously thrown to the wolves, like Liverpool away, when Sandro and Dembele were on the bench??
It would seem normal if he had returned to the fold gradually (often when we've needed him in CM) but he hasn't, which says Sherwood is either schizo or he has also fallen out with Bentaleb (amongst likely many others)

Looking at this thread, the last game he played he seemed to have a very good game according to posters (I can't personally remember). So does seem curious why he's been 'rested' ever since, a game or two I could understand....

Re: Official Nabil Bentaleb Thread

I'd agree with you on the "being thrown to the wolves" comment as I don't think it was the right game for him to be involved in. I don't think Sherwood has done him any favours by keeping him out altogether, but I do think he should've been rested a little. BTW i rate Bentaleb, as can be seen by most of my comments on this thread and I'm not a massive Sherwood fan either, but I do see the sense in withdrawing him for some of the senior players (as plenty on here wanted).

Going by the posters on here we'd never be able to put a team out if Sherwood did that.

Re: Official Nabil Bentaleb Thread

I think Bentaleb did a big mistake in opting to play for Algeria. He would have progressed faster with France.
