I don’t think he’s the guy either. His performance against the Norwegian team in the CL when he lost his head was testament for me that isn’t first-tier captain material.

I think he’s more concerned with himself than the team, hence letting people in behind him so he can do the Hollywood tackle and never bothering to try and win headers when crosses come in.

Wants the highlights not the hard work.

I think its fair given how they played last year, regardless if people want to place it all as managers doors, he was well below the standard (as were many others)

Form is temporary class is permanent...and yes, I absolutely place a good 70-75% of it at the manager's door FWIW. I fully stand by my remark and sentiment mate.

BTW, once De Zerbi came in we cut our concession rate significantly as well as the amount of games we were losing. He was a very important part of that.

Thats fair if you stand by it, I think players have a responsibility to step up at times, especially when we talk about potential captains, for me he isn't it (I don't think Romero is either and is clearly a player I rate..........to show balance).

I agree with you in general, but when literally 10-15 players could have similar things said about them, I think it's greater than the individuals. For me, the club absolutely stunk after many years of terrible decisions and with hindsight it's hard to imagine many thriving in that environment.

Agree and the majority of it does stick to the manager, but honestly, in traditional sense I don't see "Captain" material elevating from the group that were involved last season. Then again I don't think Captains have the same impact as they did historically, so maybe just give it to anyone and we can move forward haha
