"The transfer of Jermain to Toronto FC also sees the start of an Advertising Rights Agreement with club owners Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd. which includes promotional, branding, experiential activities, advertising, broadcasting, social media and digital rights across the 4-year agreement and at all MLSE properties and media sites. MLSE will stock, promote and sell official THFC merchandise at all their retail outlets and support the THFC Official Canadian Supporter's Club."

Interestingly, Tim Leiweke who is the President and CEO of MLSE, which owns Toronto FC, formerly held both positions at AEG who were rumoured to be interested in buying the club, as well as helping with the stadium situation.

MLSE owns a Hockey team, a Basketball team and an MLS team.

Could they add a Premier League team?

Wouldn't shock me. They've hit saturation point with their NHL Maple Leafs, the most valuable franchise in pro ice hockey. The NBA Raptors are a level below in financial performance but a winning season is re-loading their bandwagon. Toronto FC have been a complete disaster competitively for seven seasons of existence, but they have a stout fan base. I own four seats. When running a sports empire began to dull, they went a built a successful high-rise condo-office project near the Air Canada Centre. There's been well-sourced reports that they'll be in the running to build and operate a new stadium for a National Football League team should Buffalo move full time to Toronto.

They may not always field a winner, but they know how to make serious amounts of money. Filthy rich.

I'm sure Leiweke knows Spurs are a slumbering giant that would repay investment. About 3-4 years back, his predecessor, Richard Peddie, visited White Hart Lane and lunched with Levy. Don't think anything was actually in the works, but rumours flew every which way.

Delighted to see TFC stores will be stocking Spurs merchandise, which has been something of a rare commodity in these parts, probably even scarcer now that Bale has departed.
