Ratcliffes stake in United is very similar to Levy's .... he's doing for the Glazers exactly what levy did for the Lewis's.

Their share doesn't give them the power to do that...it's at the majority owners wishes.

Levy’s old setup maybe where he was calling the shots. But very different to Levy’s current situation where he has no day to day control. The details of Ratcliffs shareholder agreement will have various built in protections in return for his investment. Levy’s shares wouldn’t come with that leverage.

Idk what will be in there, but various clauses for things like future sale of united, first refusal on buying shares should the Glaziers want to sell, conditions for special resolutions so things like shares can't just be issued to dilute the stake without Ratcliffe's agreement etc

Levy couldn't block it. If Lewis wanted to sell he would just go ahead and sell. Levy may have wanted to remain in post but he had zero power to do that, just like he had zero to remain in post want the Lewis family decided to remove him last year.

I assume Levy, but thay logic doesnt hold up in reply. I assume you posting the photo you are suggesting there was interest in selling, I assume Levy was in charge then, so was he blocking a sale by having them as guests? None of it makes sense.

Ultimately if the Lewis family wanted to flog the club Levy wouldn't have been able to do much about it

He was the Chairman/CEO, I think people should understand how companies work.

If anyone makes a bid for a company, the Chairman and the board have an obligation to review it, even entertain it (hence we would talk to, invite guests), not obligation to accept. In a company where the owners were for a long period, fundamentally absent, Levy would have full control on if to proceed or not. Even if a situation where the owners were somewhat involved, he would have had a very strong say in recommending to go forward or not.

We know they have been multiple bids over the years, from early conversations with RA to Amanda Staveley, and somehow Spurs (Levy?) has said no every time. To try to spin this now as Levy was trying to get out and the Lewis family was the one holding on is hilarious.

And yes, if the owners disagree, they can take action to remove the person (they did), but until that point he would have easily been able to say "buyer x did not pass due diligence"
