So I bought an Asus laptop just a month ago, a N53 SV. Thought I researched my purchase well, thread on here various other forums, google etc. What I didn't find out about was how brick Asus service centres are. Here in Austria they use a third party service provider, same as they do in England I believe. This laptop has been returned for repair twice. First time was for a faulty touchpad, laptop was returned with the screen buggered, over 50 dead pixels and a keyboard with keys that don't function. So off it went again and it comes back with the screen and keyboard replaced. But keyboard still doesn't work, top row number keys, backspace, f5, f10, 7, 4 and 3 on number pad and s keys don't work. Was told to reinstall driver which did nothing strangely enough. I don't really want to send it back in again because it'll probably come back with even more problems. Anyone know if I can fix this myself? Is it worth checking the keyboard connection? Any other simple checks I can do?
