Kevin Danso

Been getting rave reviews in the match threads etc but this thread is sat back on page 3????

Our best defender.

He isn’t our best defender. He is doing very well though and I’m happy he’s here. Looks like a back 3 is back on the playlist and if they stay fit, VDV, Romero and Danso make a great back 3.

For purely defending, he is our best defender. He is no thrills - not a speed merchant and good going forward like VDV or a line splitting passer like Romero but purely at defending he is the most reliable and solid. And I don't believe this is one of those cases where it's a squad player looking better because they aren't playing week in week out - he's just a very good defender, he shows it time and time again....

Quality player. We are fortunate to have three top-class CBs in our ranks.

Great signing last Jan (but that would we have to give some credit to Levy so he’s brick and we should move him on for a Nando’s gift card)

Always said this but recruitment is a team sport. Lange's data model, Fabio's black book, 1st team manager involvement, chairman support where needed. You have to give the entire machine a pat on the back when they get the process right.

Danso is one of the few occasions I've seen where we've spent a modest transfer fee for a mid twenties player and they've added a load of value. Normally, it's these signings that create the mediocrity in our squad. Not in Kevin's case.

Yeah, I think if we can get even just a couple more of this bracket players right it would make a massive difference. I honestly believe in a couple of years time for all those whinging about signing 'potential' players we will be lauding the signings of Gray, Bergvall, Vuskovic and at least one of Odobert and Tel - I'm convinved they will prove to be a fantastic nucleus with a couple years' more experience and maturity.

Add in a couple more quality approx. 25 year olds rather than a lot of the mediocre ones we have acquired in the past and things will be shaping up really well....

Definitely.

I guess the one to watch is Gallagher. He was another mid-twenties for decent, but not massive money in today's terms. I reckon if we were to become a force then both him and Danso might be watching from the bench as the younger names you mention strut their stuff in the 1st team.

lol - Poch is gonna have fun with these guys

Agree! He's a beast. Takes no prisoners. I imagine running into him is equal to running into a brick wall. He doesn't do anything fancy, just no nonsense defending. Just protect the goal, and get the ball the fudge out of dangerous positions. You can see that he really loves defending. The battling and physical aspect.
He's a tremendous centre back.

I knew Danso was a confident guy, but agreeing to take part in an interview like this, being filmed when playing golf, when you are really bad at golf, takes balls of steel.

Note he mentions how the crowd can really uplift you when cheering or really demolish you when booing.

Bit late, but thanks for sharing this, comes across really well. I reckon he would have made it as a rugby player, but much more sense in going down the football route
