João Palhinha

When him and Sarr started a partnership early doors we looked amazing under Frank, but for whatever reason he broke it up.

Pauli is such an animal, just a shame that we should already be looking at his understudy. Absolute beast yesterday, looks like he needs mental and physical pressure to excel .. I need TP for my bunghole.
 
He deserves a lot of praise for his attitude. He's not the kind of player who's worth the entry fee alone, but when you think about it... The guy is 31, on loan in a team that isn't going anywhere. Third manager of the season comes in, and he's on the bench. How many people in his position would go through the motions, wait for the season to end, go back to Bayern and say 'good luck in the Championship'?

He's given a chance, grabs it with both hands, scores a crucial goal and goes on to deliver a huge performance against Villa. Regardless of what happens next, you have to tip your hat to the guy's fighting spirit.

True, but he has flopped at BM after being impressive at Fulham. He is playing for his future so you would expect him to be giving everything.

The staying up versus going down scenarios certainly change your thinking on whether we keep or release these players.

I'm still on the fence with Palhinha. I've seen some impressive displays but not seen an impressive season from him.
 
He's a professional, doesn't sulk or go on social media to moan. At Bayern he was in a team that rarely get beat and never get outplayed, there was nothing for him to do, classic spare prick at a wedding not a flop.

If his agent is worth something, he's got a big fat contract waiting for him in Saudi Arabia - although recent events may have made this scenario less appealing. Still, unless he can't manage his money at all, he's a made man. He's got at least another season left at Bayern. Then he'll be 32 and even if he can't find a club of the same stature, there would certainly be suitors.

If anything, Kolo Muani had more reasons to show he was up for a fight.

Unfortunately, Paulinha depends on the players around him to look good. When the team fell apart in December, he couldn't plug all the wholes. Likewise, if the team creates absolutely nothing, he looks like a guy playing sideways for 90 minutes, and that can be frustrating.

However, I've been really impressed with his attitude. Compare that with what we've seen from players over the past few years and I think it's day and night.

He picked up a massive injury that stalled his time at Bayern.

He has been nothing short of excellent this season

His entire career he’s shown this attitude.

I think he's been best when he can be on that 1 game a week cadence. I would still worry if we didn't plug our midfield squad gaps and had to over rely on him. I reckon he definitely has the game to become a real sitter and play on for a few more years. I do worry about his ability on the ball at times though.

Player of the season will be ain interesting one this year. I guess it's Porro vs Gray vs Palhinha vs Richi as it stands.

He is 31, but keeps himself in tremendous shape. Chiseled, and has an attitude that this club has needed more of for some time.
Now that RDZ has both he and Gallagher starting and playing full games regularly, I was thinking that their fitness levels would improve, and I think they have. Keep in mind too, that neither was playing regularly immediately prior to arriving here.
I would agree he's not the 'complete' player, if you will...but then not many/any players we have are. They all have their faults and weaknesses.
He was immense last night (Gallagher, too).
 
«He’s not a player we need - he can’t pass» - fudge off. Been brilliant for us. Player of the season by far. His tackle and dribble last night was a beauty! I imitated him in the sofa without consciously noticing until after I had done it.
