Easily explainable by the fact that he is asked to take a lot of risk trying to start attacks from central positions at the back. The question is whether or not his 'mistakes' that lead to a goal are made up for by his risky passes that result in a goal. I suspect they are otherwise he wouldn't have been first choice for Brighton and De Zerbi's top target for centre back.
Here we go...manager loves him, regular for his country, some write him off after one game...LOL...
I’m happy to be wrongTo be fair, some of us wrote him off before that ;-)
Also, VDV is a regular for his country too, and we all know how good he is at certain aspects of defending.

I’m happy to be wrong
I hope I’m wrong
I just don’t think JPVH aid a very good defender
He jumps in when standing up would be better and gets it the wrong way around for me
But I really really hope I’m wrong

Would sooner see mistakes per game leading to a goal. 0.02 perhaps whereas the most cautious player would be perhaps 0.015.
Absolute garbage stat.
They need more than one game. Personally, I'd like to at least see them together IN one game. There are still people who believe we're better off without Romero as a player (sadly we are due to the conditions which abounded around him).
Them together scares me, neither can battle for a header.
Yes he needs longer and we need him to turn it around because you can’t have two CB’s that can’t defend.
I was all for moving Romero on, he was incredibly frustrating, but, I thought it would mean a better CB coming in, I thought it would be Danso.
You have to separate yourself from the type of defender you want ( a hybrid Kenny Burns, Willie Young, Graham Roberts superthug) and what RDZ wants (passers from the back). I think Danso is a noble and righteous dude, but when he tries to pass or (eeek!) run with the ball, the results are less than consistent.
I think what we need is a team is a little more height and heft somewhere. It is why I think sneaking Gakpo in ocross the line would be massive (in a few ways).
p.s. I offered the hybrid in friendly tribute ;-)
Without a proper defender in there we will get spanked every week.
It is what I want, but it’s also what every side needs.
Let's hope VdV wins you over a bit more, and JPVH steps up. I do worry about set-piece defending, because we literally have no dominant headers of a ball in our side right now.
Yep, and most managers start with that.
