James Maddison

Hard to tell, he looks about as athletic as me right now, and I ain't playing Prem football in April.
Seems like this season is a total washout, so the main thing for me is that we can be back next year with Maddison and Deki and Kudus and Solanke and everyone else actually fully fit rather than suffering pain in the knee or snapping some other tendon.
Knowing our luck, even if these guys will get fit in May and then Xavi/Tel/Odo/Gallagher etc. will be injured.

PS. I was going to include Richie/Kolo/Palhinha/Bent etc but they may not even be here.
It'll be just like last season ...everyone returning just at the right time for the BIG PUSH for European Glory .....

We'll be dancin' in the streets of Budapest.

Hmm, everyone didn't return at just the right time in Bilbao... Son wasn't fit enough to start and came on at 67', Bergvall was injured, Maddison had torn his ACL, Deki had smashed his kneecap, so we were missing Son/Bergvall/Madders/Deki from our attack that night.

Luckily we had Johnson Sarr Richie behind Solanke up top which was jjjjust enough to win.

Actually, in refreshing my memory I googled this page and that is the first time I've seen this photo of Johnson actually getting 1 stud on the ball as it flipped and flopped towards the post, so I now feel sure that his "1 stud touch" did push it just inside the post. Perhaps it was just 1mm of 1 stud, but I think he did get that second touch.

Ooooo Johnson....what a stud!

While both serious injuries, Madders was a bit more straightforward. Kulu had a broken patella far more complicated and impacts the mechanics of movement if not aligned correctly slightly off and you are likely to get swelling and discomfort especially at the level they need to operate their bodies at.

I think Madders should be at his 6 month review with the surgeon in the next 2 weeks or so, when he was hoping to sign him off for full training. Based on that maybe an U21 game or behind doors friendly by end of February.

the work these guys put in to get fit again is remarkable and probably something that has gone on for years - the advent of Social Media is a scourge for the most part but watching Madders driving himself on is impressive.

I didn't think there could be a better ambassador for THFC in the modern era than Sonny, but James Maddison is giving it a real go. All so absolutely genuine. A guy who doesn't just turn up to put a smile on a face, but brings a pack of their favourite biscuits as well.

Big up to Harley, I very much hope he gets the treatment he needs.

Back on grass, looking good, another 2 months maybe?
Would be great to see him back out there but we should keep our expectations in check as he will not only take a few games to get back up-to-speed but will almost certainly break down with a hamstring or similar muscle injury as nearly all players recovering from a long-term injury do.

I don't think we can realistically expect to see him back at his best until next season unfortunately (I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointed).

Best we can hope for is that he can be an option off the bench for a few games - given the injuries that's a valuable enough role atm
