Interim Manager Discussion - Igor Tudor joined until end of season

Would you have these as interim manager to finish the season?

  • John Heitinga

  • Current Coach (Lewis, Cochrane, Burnett, Carr)

  • Ryan Mason

  • Jurgen Klinsmann

  • Chris Hughton

  • Brendan Rodgers

  • Edin Trzic

  • Gareth Southgate

  • Former Manager Hoddle/Jol/Redknapp/Sherwood

  • Stick with Frank no matter what

I find it impossible to believe that there hadn't been real thought into who could replace Frank well before he was actually sacked

The days passed since and no appointment made on an interim makes it at least seem somewhat likely that the club are trying for some long shot like what you suggest, or some other permanent manager we actually rate highly that would be difficult to get.

In a situation like this, would we want the club to try for that even if it could mean a more dragged out process if it fails or go for a quicker caretaker decision?

I imagine with USA being the hosts there's a ton of other media type work going on as well. Plus I doubt the US FA would want the distraction - imagine if it was us hosting the world cup, it would cause a riot if the same thing happened.

England isn't an international minnow though.

Who was Qatar's coach in 2022?

I'm glad I'm not the one making the call cos I honestly don't think there are any obvious solutions out there for this season. We are in such a state with injuries that whoever comes in will have his hands tied wrt selection. We're short in defence, we're short in attack so do you want someone to grind out and make us hard to beat or someone who's gonna chase the wins, how can they do either with what's available? We need a motivator and someone who can galvanise a set of players that haven't played well as a team in over a year - we need a miracle

I really don't think our players have the concentration and grit levels required to be successful in a defensive set up. The most efficient we've been over the past years was when Postecoglou stopped playing suicide-ball. We were still very a much a front-foot team (albeit a poor one).

I agree with you: we need someone who can convince them to fight for our PL status. We're poor but we might be able to nick a couple of wins in the last stretch. However, I can't shake the feeling that our fate isn't entirely in our hands...

So you are saying Sam Allardyce or Tony Pulis is the answer?

I think the most obvious answer there is that they were lying to Frank - there was no chance his position as manager was anywhere near safe going into that game....
His job was genuinely safe according to VV and Lange (ie they weren't lying).....until THEY got told otherwise by the Lewis's

So the 'experts' got overruled by owners...just hope the 'experts' had contingencies shaking out in the background ??

They are below Panama and Canada (as well as obviously Mexico) in the North American rankings. They are 4th in a 3 horse race in their continent.

And richer than both of them - it's obvious that a world cup host would be annoyed if their manager started focusing their attention elsewhere with less than 6 months before kick off. It's silly to pretend anything else.

Schmidt.

There's also the issue of having to be public face for a fascist regime. No one really wants to end up having to play the Luz Long role.

I still genuinely think we’re reliant on West Ham or Forest continuing to have a really poor run, we basically need them to be worse than us as opposed to us having the tools to be better than them at the moment.

I don't know if he'll be any good or not, but I don't really understand the due dilligance behind putting Tudor (or someone else similar) in charge even short term.

What can he have shown or said that proved him up to the situation that we're in over an unsexy but proven Prem manager who knows how to get a team out of a relegation scrap.

West Ham aren't on a poor run, they are on a good run. And we are still 5 points above them, despite being poor for a long time. Therefore we are unlikely to go down (no thats not me saying we are too good to go down etc) - we will go on a run at some point especially with a new manager, West Ham were 10 games without a win and their fans wondering whether they would win another game. Things change quickly in football....

I imagine the delay is the club talking to the person they want to take over full time and seeing if they can start now.

Once they have an answer on that, the Mase train will be pulling into N17

From what I have read it sounds more like an interim, and then they will assess candidates in the summer with the interim being under consideration....
